Trying to declutter

We have so much crap in our house... We have all these framed pictures lying around that we both don't know what to do with. They are either framed pictures of family or friends and I feel funny putting them away. We both have photo albums from different parts of our lives that are great, but it's not like we look at them. Do you take the pictures out of a frame and put them in an album?

What do you do with all of this? We don't have much storage and I'm totally sick of the house being so cluttered. Some are in tupperware bins in our closet, others are in a tv stand in the guest room/ nursery (that tv stand is going bye bye).

Oh, I also have a whole container of prints (remember when we used to get doubles) and I have no idea what to do with them... and negatives of pictures... seriously? So much crap. Any ideas? Anyone want to come organize my house!?

Re: Trying to declutter

  • I'd put them in albums. less space, good for posterity's sake.
  • I'd put the pictures from the frames in albums or into a collage frame that you can hang on your wall.

I'd go through the rest of your pictures and give away any double that you truly think someone might want and toss the extras.  Then I would go through each set and narrow down to the keepers and put those in albums.

Perhaps you can get a small shelving unit to store your albums on.

One thing that we did was put all of our little nik-naks in a curio cabinet in our office.  That helped us keep those items that we collected from various trips, but also to keep our tables free of clutter.

  • Thanks, I guess I feel bad putting certain pictures away-- the pics from college... there may need to be some shredding involved. I don't want some of those floating around the landfills.
