  • I think I'd consider my style to be casual glam that's just a little bit trendy.I like to wear basic items and dress them up with accessories or buy items that are really embellished and wear very few accessories. I put a lot of effort into how I look most of the time due to my size because I want to be perceived as well dressed and not some overweight girl who's stuffed into her clothes. I think my siggy pic is pretty good representation but here are some others as well.

  • I would describe my overall style as preppy. I like clean lines. I usually wear polos or button up tops. I love argyle too! Most of my clothing comes from New York & Company or Gap.

    sadly, no pictures.

  • My style is comfortable and inexpensive.  I wear what I want, not what a magazine or the runway tells me I should.  Also, I love wearing jeans, camis, and solid colored-tops, usually black. Preferred stores are Old Navy and Kohls.

    Sadly, no pictures...

  • Modern classic? Girl next door? I dunno, I really like wearing jeans and t-shirts lol.

I appreciate the classics (a great demin jacket, the perfect LBD, a crisp white shirt) but like to update them in a modern way. I like to be comfortable but look put together. I NEVER wear comfy/pj pants in public - I think it is sloppy. I only ever wear sneakers/runners when doing some sort of physical activity.

I appreciate trends but only go with ones that work for me and only if I actually like them. I know my body and what works/doesn't and think that if you try and force yourself into something that doesn't feel comfortable, it will show and look terrible.

Don't have a huge clothes budget, so I def shop sales and use coupons. Looking good doesn't have to cost a fortune, I try and mix a less expensive piece w/ one that cost a little more.

I say all this right now while wearing my robe and a ratty pair of OSU homecoming sweatpants, so perhaps all this should be taken w/a grain of salt...

  • I don't have anything to PIP. I'm obsessed with shoes! So, I have probably 70 pair, but most of them are super crazy. About 1/4th of my collection is nine west. I also have a few irregular choiceshoes that are just so bizarre, but I love them! To me, shoes always make the outfit and they always fit :)
  • I'm probably classic preppy.  I live in tailored dark denim and classically styled tops.  I'm a big fan of things like argyle and cable knit in the winter, and solids all the time.  I don't like to look too busy, and I dress to suit my body style before I follow trends.

I spend a fair amount of money on my accessories because they last for a long time, whereas the only clothes I spend a lot on are my jeans (Lucky + tailoring), because they're the staples that are "worth it" to me.

95% of my tops come from J Crew, Banana, Gap and Ann Taylor.

  • I'd say probably urban chic. I like feminine and or edgy pieces, things that drape well on the body, and nice fabrics. You'll rarely if ever catch me in jersey or anything really clingy. I like the look of vintage, but not the actual used pieces. Freaks me out a bit. Huge cotton girl. I love the breathable feeling of it.

I love layering, color, accessories, skirts, jackets, and shoes. Oh, and I'm a sucker for stripes. I don't think that you have to spend a lot of money or be uncomfortable to dress your body better. I buy most things on sale, and get a lot of use out of my items. I'm a fan of my waist, ankles, collar bone, and butt. I like to accent them.

I don't really have a favorite store. I do frequent Gap, BR, Loft, J Crew, and H&M. I occasionally shop Anthro and Macy's. J.Crew is getting a bigger percentage in my closet.

A few pics of my favorite outfits:

  • I don't have any great pics, but I guess if I had to pinpoint my style, I'd say it's mostly classic pieces with some glam and/or trendy pieces mixed in. I love using belts of all colors and sizes, scarves and jewelry to give outfits personality. I love to layer tank tops with cardigans for a more polished look.

I like dressing up and finding new color combinations to put together. I have some shimmery pieces in my wardrobe and those are always my favorites. I like to find pieces that are different - either in color, texture or style and making them the statement piece of my outfit. Like this past Christmas Eve, I wore a pale pink, (faux) fur, cropped jacket with jeans, gold pumps with bows, and chunky rhinestone and pearl jewerly:)

I don't think people always "get" my style, but I like it!

  • I don't really know! I'm kind of fickle with my style, but overall, if I could, I would wear some item by Lilly Pulitzer at all times.

On a regular day, when I'm just hanging around the house or at work, I'm in comfy clothes- jeans or chinos with a simple but cute top and some fun jewelry. The biggest thing is I don't like to have my movements restricted, so on a regular day I don't wear jackets, hats, scarves, button-down shirts, anything that gets in the way or makes it hard to move. I wear comfy shoes most of the time because I tend to walk quickly and I can't stand being slowed down by heels. This would be different if I didn't work in a lab.

But when I'm going out or meeting friends or something, I definitely get dressed up- an expensive dress, or jeans with a cute top and jacket or scarf, big funky chunky jewelry, and fun shoes.

Most of the time, my hair is just brushed and pulled into a ponytail or left down, I'm pretty bad at styling my hair. I'm getting more adventurous with makeup, thanks to an eye shadow pallet with directions!

I'm also a huge shoe lover, I have about 110 pairs right now. The sad part is, I mostly only wear my docs or danskos, and many of my strappy heels that I used to wear for going out are still in a huge cardboard box that was never unpacked when we moved in 2009. I can't walk quickly enough in heels to wear them to work, and I now have to really work back up to wearing heels again. Last weekend I went to a retirement party and survived in 4 inch heels the entire night, I was so proud!

The only thing I don't wear is skirts, because I can't figure out what kind of top to pair with the adorable skirts I have! It's very sad.

  • Is 14 year old hobo a style?

I guess it's not THAT bad..but I'm a mostly comfort driven kind of dresser. There is a good chance on any given work day that I am in work pants, a shirt and a zip up hoodie. I go as far as work pants, a shirt and a cardigan...I generally look presentable at work but I wouldn't say it's on purpose. I'm kind of awful at layering and tend to stick to solid colors. On the weekends it's generally jeans and a tshirt.

I shop at New York & Co, LOFT, Nordstrom Rack and sometimes Kohls & Old Navy (less now than I used to since Old Navy pants seem to not come in a size meant for women with hips..)

  • My style tends to be dictated by my weight.  When I was heavier, I'd wear Patrick's jeans and shirt.  I looked horrible and sloppy but I was too self-conscious to wear anything tighter.  I'm currently in between my lowest and highest weight, so I've been sticking with jeans and t-shirts.  I like to buy t-shirts with a few details so they aren't just t-shirts.  I love J Crew for those kinds of things.  Around December, I purchased clothing for my weight so my long sleeve t-shirts have some collar details while my short sleeves are just plain v-necks.  As the weather warms up, I'll probably buy some more dressy t-shirts.

When I was skinnier, I did like to dress up more in a nice pair of pants and dressy tanks.  As my weight goes down, I'm on the lookout for more dressier clothing.

I only follow trends if they flatter me.  Since I have a short torso, big boobs, narrow waist and thin calves, I have a hard time wearing belts that tie at the waist and balancing skinny jeans with the right top so I don't look too top heavy.

ETA: I never wear accessories.  I really should try adding them to my outfits.

  • I would describe my style as a more modern chic version of a hippie. I tend to be drawn to things that are vintage inspired, whether that's tiered, printed skirts, maxi dresses, or hobo bags.

In the summer, I live in sundresses and sandals, and I love a good boho-inspired print.

For work, I stick to that same style, but just make it a little more "teachery." I own a cardigan in just about every color imaginable, so I layer those with printed tanks or wear them with a printed skirt or dress. Sometimes I have to say to myself "you've worn a cardigan 3 times this week, find something else." I have a slight obsession with vintage jewelry, and my collection of cocktail rings, clip-on earrings, and flower brooches is getting a little out-of-hand.

There's some sort of magnetic force that pulls me to things that are black and white, and I also have a slight fixation with animal prints. I'm wearing a giraffe print BR shirt today.

I feel naked without something on my right wrist. Usually, that's a big cuff or a stack of bangles. When we were getting ready at our wedding, my BM April said "it wouldn't be Jen without a big bracelet." I guess that's my "signature piece."

    image

I don't wear heels, unless it's absolutely necessary. In winter, I wear ballet flats (and occassionally boots), and in summer I wear flip flops. I only wear tennis shoes to the gym.

I'm also a coat hoarder. There is no reason anyone in Alabama needs 8 coats.

  • I would describe my style as comfy-chic. I like jeans, but I always wear dark wash. I usually wear camis with cardis and such - I only wear t-shirts when I'm sleeping or cleaning house. I wear a lot of black & grey, but I like to add pops of color. I hate tennis shoes and only wear ballet flats or sandals (heels on occasion).

I don't wear a lot of jewelry, sometimes none at all. That's an area I need to work on. I also am kind of a slacker in the hair and makeup department, but I'm working on that too.

  • style? whats that? haha.

i dont know how to describe myself. i dont think i really have a "signature" anything. i have a variety of shoes- pumps, wedges, Uggs, riding boots, clogs, flips, sneakers, hiking boots, etc.

i always match my purse to my outfit and i never leave the house without my hair and makeup done and accessories on. i dont think i ever dont wear at least earrings, wedding rings, and a right hand ring.

my closet is comprised of a lot of pinks and browns. i have a lot of cable knits, argyle, and polos. but i also have a lot of long sleeved lightweight cotton sweaters that i wear year round.

i own 17 LBD. who needs this many? and i also hoard coats (although its more necessary in PA than in Alabama haha)

most of what i own is "fitted". i dont like loose fitting or bohemian style stuff. it doesnt look right on my petite frame. although i also dont own or wear skinny jeans or leggings either because i dont think they are flattering.

  • I can best describe my style as "scrubby". Seriously.  I don't take the term to the extreme, since I do shower daily and wear clean clothes. When most say they like to dress comfty, they refer to jeans and a Tshirt.  Ummm yeah, I wear jeans probably 1-3 times a month.  I live in sweatpants, workout pants, anything that is loosefitting and could sleep in.

Even if it got worse after marriage and a baby, sadly I can't blame it on either.  The first time I met Floyd, I was out at a bar playing pool...in pajamas.  Since I am a nanny, I don't really ever need to dress up and I am perfectly happy that way.  My mornings are nice and quick...take a shower, brush my teeth, get dressed, throw my hair in a ponytail and I am good to go.  I wear makeup only about once a month to once every 2 months, depending if we are doing anything special.  Besides my rings, I wear no accessories.  I am a simple kind of gal.
