Things my boss says that annoys me...
He's in his office telling our secretary about his reservations for dinner tonight. He's taking some of his family to a nice restaurant and expects to pay $350. How can he talk about spending that much money on a dinner in one night like it's nothing?? For 4 adults and 3 kids? If he can afford to do that, he should pay me the commission I am due from last fall. Ugh. One more reason I really wish I could find a new job.
Anyone else care to get something boss/work related off their chest?

Re: Things my boss says that annoys me...
That's annoying. I hate when people talk about spending a large amount of money like it's nothing.
I've somewhat vented about this before. I talked to my director almost 4 weeks ago about keeping my job but just working out of the ATL office. Last we talked he said our departmet vp wasn't too thrilled about the idea but that he would keep talking to her about it. Never heard anything. So about a week later, I left him a note just thanking him for all he's doing and that how i'd love to stay with the company but know that it's an unusual request. Nothing. Not even an acknowledgement that he got the card and that he was still trying to talk to our vp...nothing. Now I know that things have been crazy busy for him lately, but I'm sorry, you walk by my desk a million times during the day, you can't stop by for 2 seconds and say hey I haven't forgotten about you, I'm still trying.
So then yesterday, I sent him (with my manager on copy) a check-in email just saying hey i know you've been busy but i wanted to check in since it's been so long since our last conversation and just filled him in a little on what my plans were (he told me when we talked that he didn't want to stop me from looking for jobs in ATL, just to keep him informed on what was going on). Nothing. I have heard absolutely nothing from him. I'm so freaking annoyed.
I need to vent about my principal. He observed me yesterday and I could tell he was in a bad mood!
First he told me he could not find my lesson objectives in my lesson plans and I need to email him. Fine. I can do that and did last night when I got home.
Second, he got annoyed that my first group was canceled because the classroom teacher scheduled a computer assessment during that time. Sorry, but I can't control that, we need to be flexible. It's not my fault he was late getting my observation done.
Fast forward to today during my quick conference about the lesson. He showed me my lesson plans and how they were missing the objectives. I politely pointed out where they were. (Split from one page onto the next, on both plans). Then he told me things that went well and gave some constructive suggestions (as expected, no problem here). Then he told me that he is trying to be more positive in these conferences. So he told me I am a hard worker, a valued team member, etc. Then he told me it was not my best observation, but the observation was very positive. WHAT?
So was it good or not? I walked out feeling like all of him comments were backhanded once he said his final remark! Uggh! So glad it is Friday!
Vent over!
Yes and no. Yes, in the state. However, the district requires all new teachers to go through 3 years of observations regardless.
I am honestly considering requesting a transfer to a middle school reading specialist position. I have heard great things about the school and I really loved teaching reading to my 6th graders a couple of years ago. This would be 7th grade reading and 6th and 7th reading support for struggling students. Still not sure what I am going to do, but its on my mind a lot right now.
Why the double standard for going to the conference? Are the others at your school or another? I would think the principal would like your initiative for wanting to go!
I don't get paid enough. Period.
And my second job isn't working me pretty much at all. And I don't get paid hourly! I get paid by story! Two stories total last month. Two completed this month and two in progress. That's not gonna work for me.
