Bringing up old stuff

Shouldn't there be a statute of limitations on that?!?

DH and I were having a friendly debate last night and to counter-point my argument he brought up an incident that was 12 years old!  (We have known each other for 15 years.)

Seriously the man can't remember to bring home his lunch box, but he can rustle up some crazy story from over a decade ago to "win" a debate.  :Sigh:

Re: Bringing up old stuff

  • oh please - we've essentially been having the same fight for the last 8 years.  No one brings it up, but I remember!!!

  • Before we were even engaged, I don't remember which one of us threw something "old" back up in the other's face, but we put a stop to it then and there. If we're fighting, we fight about the issue at hand (which may be a reoccurring issue, but still, we only talk about the present instance), not things from the past.  It's not fair.

This is how we are too.  Once in a great great while one of us will throw something old in the other's face, but then the other will point out that's not fair, and there is an apology. The general understanding is that old shiit stays in the past.

I have a good memory and if I could use every time he's ticked me off as evidence that he's an @ss when I'm angry, our fights would get very long.  So we just don't even go there.

  • We have a 24 hr rule so after that time, we cannot bring up the topic to fight about. It's worked so far.
