Kid Shoes

Now that Caroline is starting to walk and Summer is approaching I need to look into some shoes. I figured I'd come to you guys. For the most part, she'll be happy and barefoot, but I need something I can rely on that will be good for her feet and protect them. Caroline has never worn shoes, the cute decorative shoes are kicked off immediately and I just stopped trying.  Are the Robeez really the way to go? It seeems like a lot of people like them.

Re: Kid Shoes

  • Again with my snobby runner husband.

He has done a fair amount of research about shoes appropriate for new feet. I think he said Robeez are good. I will ask him what he came up with. But, mostly being barefoot is best.

  • Josh lived in Robeez until i couldn't find them big enough for his feet - I want to say till at least 18 months - I am sure they make them bigger i could just never find them.

  • Jake lives in Crocs all summer and looooooves them.  He had some cute Stride Rite sandals but they smelled bad after some wear, and the Crocs are antimicrobial so they win in my mind.

I agree! Thanks! Just looking for something when we are out somewhere and she wants to get down from our clutches. We have all of these sandals etc that she got for her b-day that are cute, but I think she'd wipe out in them and they are pretty firm rubber soled and wouldn't allow her to walk very well

  • Robeez are great.  There are also Pedipeds.

  • Robeez are good indoor shoes/slippers but they aren't designed for outdoor use and will wear out quickly if she's walking outdoors.

Honestly, I would try her with the sandals she already owns.  Helen had a pair of size 2 rubber soled sandals from Target her first summer walking and she walked just fine in them.

  • We love Crocs in the summer too. Otherwise Eli mostly wears Stride Rite sneakers. He has wide feet and they have the best options and fit for him.

  • Stride Rite has "new walker" shoes or something... can't remember what they are called that the boys had last year when they started walking... and then had a pair of Target sandals that they wore for most of the summer that were pretty flexy.. but try them on Caroline and see how she does... you might be surprised at how much they flex on her feet when she is walking.

  • My favorite shoes for Grace when she was a new walker was a pair from See Kai Run. They have a line called "smaller" for 0-24 months.  She had a pair of brown sandals that were so cute and so soft, they have been my favorite shoes she has had to date! I actually still have them tucked away with other things of hers I am saving :) At Caroline's age she also had pedipeds (which I do like) and robeez which are great too!

Also if you search around online sometimes you can find see kai runs on sale from other places!
