S/O tween poll

So, you guys all made me feel really young in the middle school poll. I came into awareness of pop culture way after Kirk Cameron, Tiffany, and NKOTB.

So when were you born?

  • I was a little too old for NKOTB, but I do remember Tiffany well from my middle school days.

I was too old for American Girl dolls, too.

I was just the right age for them. Sadly, not of the right $$$ persuasion. But, my mom did let me subscribe to the free catalog.

This!   Except I was a Jan 1981 babe.  We had one girl in our hall who LOVED BSB.  And we all teased her.

  • Jan. 1982. I was a HUGE NKOTB fan... For shame.
  • Where are all my fellow pre-1975 babies?!? I know I'm not the only one!

1974, here. My first movie was "Star Wars." I remember my dad's snow tunnel from the Blizzard of 1978. I remember George Michael when he was in Wham! and Michael Jackson was still black... I also remember thinking Molly Ringwald was the BOMB!

I'm March '75...is that close enough?  I had Thriller and the Footloose soundtrack on vinyl.  I saw ET in the theater.

YES! That is close enough-- all these "I feel old but was born in the 80s!" LOL  My brother and I used to scare my sister with the Thriller song. And just before Vincent Price would start laughing at the end, my brother and I would say things like "How do you like [my sister]'s hair/face/clothes?" and then he'd laugh and she'd cry. Good times, good times...

Do you still say "album" instead of "cd" when you're talking about an artist having a new release?

  • And I feel like one of the youngsters being from 1984 (and sans kiddos).

I started teaching high school at 21. Every time something came up in the faculty meetings that were from before my time, everyone would immediately point out that "Susie __________ has no idea what we're talking about." I'd yell "NOPE!" (big faculty in a big auditorium, so I had to yell) And then I'd go back to playing games on my iPod touch.

To this day, I still get the dropped jaw symptom from most of my coworkers because I was the youngest teacher in our school for 5 years straight until a new girl started this year and just BARELY took my crown away.
