...about the government shut down and FB.
People say some really ignorant things dont they?
I feel terrible for our men and women serving in our military especially since my FIL, 3 BIL's and SIL are all active Army. But this FB comment just really irks me.
CD: All of you back home better make sure you that you understand that while you're cozy in America with your family and friends, there are members of your government that are defending your freedom and ARE NOT getting paid for it.
I never joined the Army for a paycheck, but this is a crime...and words can't describe how disappointed I am ...in my own government.
I might as well put on some man jammies and walk around in the mountains of Afghanistan begging like the kids in my photos. I'll probably get more money (and compassion) then I would from MY OWN GOVERNMENT
COMMENT: It was only a matter of time for the military, Clayton. We have all took a hit. What this country needs to work on is why groceries, fuel, and everything else is so expensive. BUT we are AMERICANS
CD: I guess freedom really is free now. I'm just gonna tell the Taliban that I'm not playing anymore and I need my allowance before I can play cowboys and indians again.
COMMENT: Just tell them time out. They'll understand we don't have the money after we threw it away solving other peoples' issues.
And he has several albums of his unit/civilians and the area, the title of the albums is "af'whack'istan".
For a soldier I feel like he is being really tasteless. What do you guys think?
Re: Have a little gripe...
hmmmmm... IDK. military folks make so little now as it is, i'd be pretty P'O'd too if i wasn't getting paid.
I agree. Ive just been taught by FIL and BIL's that you hold your tongue/ dont speak ill of your country/ criticize your commander in chief. I think he is just being a tad too outspoken
There are people that love to hear themselves talk about everything. I hate any kind of political talk on Facebook. I don't want to hear your views when I'm trying to look at cute pictures of my friends.
My H is military and would never put anything on his Facebook about the government, his boss, etc. even if he didn't agree with it. It's not that he's military...it's that he's not a moron who talks just to hear himself talk.
There are morons in every career field.
(...and yes - as of right now we're not getting paid. My H has been deployed many times. It's frustrating).
Meh... I don't like getting all political and preachy but its America we have freedom of speech. Doesn't mean you have to like what the person is saying.
I think its pretty shitty that if the government shuts down all the fat cats on federal hill keep raking in the money while our men and women who lay down their lives (and make very little doing so) wont get paid.
It's free speech, but technically in the military you're not allowed to talk bad about the president. Not that anyone will actually get in trouble, but you could get talked to from your supervisor and depending on how bad what you said was you could loose a stripe (like go down a rank = lose pay), and at the very far end of it get kicked out.
It's not like a "law", but it's a rule of having the job, so the people that are putting things out there are just morons, IMO. Why would you chance getting in trouble and losing your job just to put something on your Facebook for your friends to 'like"?
I guess I dont see anything that he is saying directly against the president and more just the government in general. It would be another thing for him to say "Hey Obama while your out playing golf and Im not getting paid". KWIM?? I agree with you that you shouldnt say something to jeopardize your career though.
