What does DH do to drive you nuts?

This morning, I threatened to throw Chris down the stairs if he didn't do his laundry.  His hamper is overflowing and I had to keep chasing the dog who was stealing his socks.

  • We usually eat dinner in the livingroom and Lance will take our plates into the kitchen and then he doesn't rinse them. I hate having to rinse dishes the nest day when everything is all stuck on like cement, just rinse the d@mn dishes when they get dirty!!

Just don't rinse them if they're still hot!! Lol, Ben usually never rinses the dishes right away and I do...then after I broke the glass bread pan by rinsing when it was still hot, Ben said: see, I told you it's better to wait. lol

I hate when DH "soaks" things in the dishwater.  He fills up the sink and just leaves stuff in there.  I end up having to go over there to finish the dishes.  He says "they need to soak", and I reply "it's all teflon!!!  NONE of it it needs to soak".  Yes, every now and then something will, like a glass baking pan or something, but 90% of the time he soaks our teflon, our our wooden cooking utensils.  Drives me batty.

  • Oh this is too easy lol...when Jason blows his nose, it sounds like he's blowing a trumpet to let the troops know the war is starting or something; it is insane!  I can literally be in the shower, with the radio on, and still hear him blow his nose from the living room.

He also chews with his mouth open sometimes when we're just eating at home in the living room and it drives me nuts!  I've actually said before, "If you do it one more time, I'm going to call your grandmother and ask her what the hell was wrong with her because she clearly didn't teach you table manners." lol  In his defense, we have two cats and he is allergic to cats so he is often congested, but still.

  • For me... it is probably he doesn't put any seperation between work and home... My DH works hard he really does. He puts in long hours M-S and some times Sundays. He leaves at 6 and doesn't get home until 8 or 9pm. It's gotten worse since we are married. It really frustrates me when I see he has almost a month worth of vacation and won't take it. I have begged, pleaded, and nagged for him to take a day off and he won't... It really is upsetting and drives me crazy!

  • He does a lot to drive me crazy, but I know I do the same to him, so I pick my battles.

Like cleaning the kitchen after dinner...he leaves the pans in the sink to dry.  The sink is not clean...I finally had to tell him to stop, because he didn't get the hint when I would move them right after he cleaned them.  He also doesn't clean the counters, which to me is part of cleaning the kitchen after dinner, even if you can't see anything on them.

I also have a bad habit of stacking mail (one of those things that I do to drive him crazy) so that I know where everything is (it's organized chaos for me).  When we have guests over, he always takes the whole stack and puts it in some random drawer, then I can't find it, or worse, forget about it (usually it's bills).

And don't get me started on his driving.  Ugh.  You know those people that merge onto the freeway going 50 when the speed limit is 65 and slowwwwwwly speed up?  Yeah, I'm married to one.

I'll stop there because it makes it sound like I don't love him.  I do very much.  We've lived together for almost four years, so I'm used to all of this stuff.  So it's not so bad.

Oh - one thing he hasn't gotten used to that totally makes him crazy is how I leave my shoes in random places around the house where we both trip over them.  I don't know why I do it.

Both of those also! If I know that we are in a hurry I have to run to the garage to beat Lance to the drivers seat because I know if he drives we will for sure be late. And I do the same thing with the bill, I have them all in one stack by date so I know what needs to be paid first etc; then he will go through them and they are everywhere, or he will put them somewhere and then I can't find them.

And Xan, Lance smacks his food and it makes me effing crazy!! I always give him the stink eye when he is doing it. GRRR!!

  • He will sit there while we watch TV and blow small spit bubbles with his lips, so there is a constant smacking/popping noise.

He will also tap things or play with things, making constant noise.

I try to tolarate it for a while, but then I just need him to stop. It's quite annoying. He says he just likes to do something with his hands (male shocker of the year).

  • Oh this is a long list, and ironically a lot of them are things that my dad does that drive my mom nuts. He just does things without thinking about them and to me they just lack common sense.  I know I'm a bit OCD about details so it totally drives me nuts.  He also forgets where things are (like things that have been in the same place for over a year) and then asks me (usually have fumbling through and messing things up first), and then proceeds to put them back in the wrong place later so that I can't find them when I need them. He rarely cleans up after himself in the kitchen, make that pretty much anywhere, but the kitchen is the worst.  Watching him clean makes me just want to smack my hand against my head; he's not through at all, wastes so much cleaning supplies, and 1/2 the time I have to do it over again.  And don't even get me started on his alarm clock which he has to have ridiculously loud to wake him up, forgets and leaves it for an early time on the weekends when we want to sleep in, and he'll snooze forever.  He drives me so crazy sometimes, but I love him so much!

  • He slams things.  When it's a drawer closed or the kitchen cabinets closed, or even when he drops the toilet lid down he just lets it go so it slams.  It's so annoying.  I actually cringe now when I see him holding a cabinet door because I know what's coming.

This for sure. DH might not be the easiest person to live with, but I know I'm not either. So it all works out.

I think the thing he does that's been bugging me the most is flicking his toes in bed. I don't know if it's just a habit he's started that he doesn't realize he's doing, or if it's the new medicine he's on that's making him jittery. But he'll lay there when we're going to sleep, body completely still, and just wiggle his toes. I know he doesn't even realize he's doing it and I don't want to just lay there & get on his case, but it's so distracting! Lucky for me, it usually only lasts about ten minutes. He falls asleep quick most of the time, and then I can too. :)

There's only a couple of things he does, and well lets face it, I'm not the easiest person to be with. A lot of the stuff you guys hate like not rinsing the dishes, or occasionally eating with your mouth open...well that's me. DH is a neat freak, like OCD...things have to be in perfect order by height, the blinds have to be at the EXACT same point on the window for all the windows...blah. That drives me nuts.

He also chew his cheeks when he's worried, which grosses me out. And when he tells a story you better have time. It'll be the most detailed drawn out story of your life. I feel bad but sometimes when he's telling me something I snap and  say "WTF just get to the point".
