Started my masters program today!

My class actually starts Monday, but they open the course on Friday so you can get a jump start if you like. Its an online program through Capella University and it is amazing so far! The staff is just wonderful and so far the course looks like it is goign to be great. I'm doing it in Education with a concentration in early childhood. I may be cursing the gods in a few weeks for signing up for this craziness, but we will see! :) I'm hoping to get through it quickly because then we can start thinking about babies (my rule, not his...it's just my personal goal in life. I know for myself, if I didn't start do it before children, I would never have done it).

Re: Started my masters program today!

  • Congratulations!

How long is it going to take you?

DH will finish the last course for his MBA in 3 weeks. Then it'll be back to school for me in the fall!

  • Congratulations!!!!

     :-)

Online classes are totally awesome. I did about a quarter of my undergrad online and am starting my online master's in May. Good stuff.

    Good luck!!!! :-)

  • Cool!

I really enjoyed grad school- though I did it at the university, not online. Good for you for getting your master's!

  • Congrats! My friend is doing an online grad program with Capella and she loves it.

I got into USC's Online Masters in Teaching program but couldn't do it since we would be moving halfway through it and I'd be getting a teaching licensure in a different state.  Now I'm not 100% I want to do teaching (I'm the most indecisive person on the planet).

How long is the program? Good luck and keep us updated :)

  • That's exciting! Good luck with the program!

I'm always impressed by anyone who goes back to school. My sister-in-law is starting a phD program in the fall, in addition to working full time and having 2 kids under 5. I'm in awe of her.  I can take classes for next to nothing through work, and I either don't at all, or I take them for a few weeks and drop out the minute something is due. I've worked at 2 colleges with Masters programs, and I've finished a whopping 2 classes. I think I'm just too far removed from undergrad to be motivated now.

  • Good for you! I am halfway through mine timewise (one year left), but already have 7 out of 10 classes done. I am doing it online and will get a degree in reading and language, and started it with the same rule, no kids until I am done! I don't know how people do it all with kids, and the plan is to not find out!

I will finish Dec 2012. I'm glad to see someone else is also going to Capella. I had never heard of it! I actually called the DOE to see what programs they accepted that were online. I am thankful I am able to do it online, I'm at the preschool until 5, so there is no way I would be able to head off to class at a traditional school after working all day. If you think you want to get back into teaching Capella is accepted in many of the states.

  • I'm looking for a few certification programs either in ed advocacy or a CAGS or something...that masters in guidance just isnt doing it for me LOL
