Any tips on where to get some for cheap? I have some fruit boxes from the grocery store, but I was hoping to get some bigger ones, too.
I used to work PT at Target and we always gave them to people who asked... but when I stopped by the Roseville one this week they kind of gave me a run around on the topic.
Yes, I know I CAN buy them, but I'd like to avoid that if possible... especially since I know so many go to waste.
Re: Moving Boxes?
I'm not sure about this, but you might try the free section of Craigslist (either browsing or posting your own "want to buy" type ad), or Freecycle?. I know I'm able to get rid of packing material (packing peanuts, etc.) very quickly by posting them for free on Craigslists--lots of ebayers and people with their own businesses looking to cut down on packaging costs.
I've never posted boxes before though--I reuse/recycle them myself (just recycled a BUNCH of them actually, otherwise I'd offer them to you!). But maybe other people do??

LittleMiss- I know! Bad timing. I have like 5 coworkers that said "we JUST got rid of a bunch." Usually H and I just hold on to some and keep reusing them... but last year we gave them all to friends when we decided to stay in our apartment another year. I'm hoping some of those friends will give some back to us
Thanks for the liquor store idea! I'm sure they have a ton, and we go to the same place all the time so I'm sure they'll hold some for us.
I looked on craigslist, but they seem to go pretty quickly. Hopefully more will pop up as moving season starts!

My Blog
I got a bunch of copy paper boxes from my work that were great. Maybe they would have a bunch at a place like kinkos or officemax.
For smaller ones for heavy things, french fry boxes from mcdonalds were really good. I put all my books in them.
Good luck!
A little late...but maybe you're still in need. I usually always call McDonald's in the morning around 10am and ask them to hold onto the Mac Fry boxes through their lunch rush and go pick them up after around 2 or 3pm. They have other larger boxes as well like ones their lettuce comes in. I like the Mac Fry ones because they're larger but kind of square so very easily stackable on a dolly and if you put heavy things in them they're not so large that they're awkward.
Find a house?
Thanks everyone! We'll have to just start asking around at all the stores I usually go to.
I never thought of McDonald's though, so thanks for the tip! There's one right in Dinkytown that I'm sure gets busy enough. I'll have to call them and go pick some up on the way home.
Akstanl- not yet, but we've found a few we like at least! We're getting closer. We did get the whole pre-approval thing done at least, and we know what we are comfortable spending. So now it's just a matter of finding the right house!
