Life after the wedding

Hi Ladies. This is my first time posting. My wedding was March 19, 2011. After 12 months of wedding planning and constantly running around, we are asking each other what do we do now that our wedding is over..lol.. It seemed like we ate, breathed, and slept wedding. We got back from our honeymoon a week ago, and now it's really sinking in. No more wedding planning. Has anyone else felt this way?

Re: Life after the wedding

  • yep. It passes with time. Find a new hobby or take date nights and focus on each other more now that you're not having to stress about the planning :)

DH family stayed with us the whole week leading up to the wedding (7 extra people in a 3 bdrm house). The day after the wedding, when everyone was gone, it was WAY too quiet so I had the TV going all day.

Congrats on your recent wedding! :)

  • Congrats on your wedding!  It's good to try to find another project after the wedding.  For us it was decorating our apartment :)  Eventually things will seem normal again and it will actually be nice to have nothing to do!

  • Sounds like you need some summer plans! I can't say that we felt that way, we moved into a house a two months before the wedding so we had lots of projects waiting to keep us busy post-wedding :) Where did you go on your honeymoon?
  • Congrats on getting married!

I missed wedding planning after it was all over, but that goes away over time.

I agree with trying to find something else to occupy your time!

  • Congratulations!

We definitely felt that way after our wedding too.  We moved immediately after our honeymoon so for a few days we were focused on getting settled in but then one evening we were just watching TV and it felt so weird not to be talking about the wedding!

Find something fun to do together...anything.  It was summer time when we got married so we spent a lot of time outside and then would end our nights watching seasons of HIMYM on DVD (we didn't have cable at the time).  Good luck!!

  • We are in the process of working on summer plans. You kind of sound like me. We moved in our house about 4 months prior. We went to the Bahamas & Turks & Caicos for our honeymoon! Thanks for the advice!
  • Thanks Ladies! I feel better knowing that I am not the only one that has experienced this! Summer plans are in progress, and date nights are definitely on the chart! Thanks again!
  • This happened to me.  I began another project right away... house hunting, then furniture hunting, then dog hunting, now I'm gardening.  Just find something else to do.  Focus on redecorating, saving money for something big, new car, or try a new club, like sports, etc.
