So pissed off at my sister

I just need to vent because I am so unbelievably pissed off right now.  My youngest sister who is 16 and amazing with kids (she's babysat for about four years now for a lady in our church and her son was 3 months back when she first started) is going to be watchign Alex for the summer, but she doesn't get out of school until the end of June. This was going to work perfectly if Alex had arrived the week after his due date, however with him being early we needed to fill that gap of time.  My other sister (middle sister, 21) offered to watch him since she'll be out of college in the end of May.  Well I just found out today via facebook that she took an internship that starts in May, so she's not able to watch him.  I had to call my mom to find out for certain because she's not adult enough to call me and tell me herself.  So we're totally screwed for the first month I'm back to work, it's too late for the daycares in our area because they're wait listed until September when we were planning on enrolling him.  I'm just so pissed at her.  I know she needs to do this internship for college but apparently she knew she was going to have to do this a few weeks ago and didn't bother telling us.  That would have at least given us more time to try to figure something else out.

I'm holding out hope that a friend of mine will be able do to it.  It's funny because she used to babysit my sisters and I when she was in highschool, then I babysat her daughter two years ago for a while and now she would be babysitting my son.  Please send vibes that this works out, I'm really freaking out at the moment.

  • Ugh I am sorry Christina, it's the worst when people you thought you could count on let you down. I can't believe she didn't even have the decency to call you earlier (or at all) so you had at least a little more time. I hope it all works out so you can work and not worry too much about Alex. I'll be thinking about you. Keep us updated!
  • I hope it works out, if we lived closer Alex and Teaghan could have hung out for the month. Sending good vibes your way!!

  • Thanks ladies.  I should have known this would happen because she's not very reliable and not very mature, but I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt.  I just think it's a shame that I trust my 16 year old sister more than my 21 (almost 22) year old sister.  My friend is going to call me tomorrow to let me know if she can watch him for the month of June and my mom is changing her vacation from next week to the last week of May, so it looks like it's probably working out.  I just feel so let down by my sister.
  • Ugh, I'm so sorry she did that to you. It sucks so much when you should be able to trust someone and you can't. I'm glad at seems like it's going to work out!
  • Sorry:( I can totally relate to how you feel! It sucks when you trust your sisters and then they let you down big time.

I hope your friend works out though...let us know!

  • Thanks Ames & Rach.  We have found a solution, so it will be fine but like Rach said it's so disappointing and hard when someone you should be able to trust let's you down.
