Boo... scheduling conflict :(

Ugh.  I just found out that two events that I have been totally looking forward to next year are happening on the same weekend: my college reunion and my sister's college graduation.

It's a bummer because while my sister's graduation trumps the reunion for sure, I have already had at least one college friend ask me if I'm going to the reunion.  Maybe there's a way DH and I can manage to go to both... say go to some reunion events on Friday, and Saturday morning, then head off to the graduation Saturday afternoon (commencement is Sunday morning).

'Course, I really need to wait to consider all of this until after the baby arrives... while I can see DH and myself easily navigating a two-stop weekend trip as a couple, I imagine it's going to be a whole new ball game with a one-year-old in tow (squee!).  It will be a lot of time on the road -- it's 4 hours to the graduation and 2 hours to the reunion in somewhat different directions -- but at least it's all driveable!

Hmmm... might even be better this way as then DH doesn't have to take two weekends off of work.  I so hope we can pull it off!  I've been so looking forward to the reunion... I missed the last one!

Re: Boo... scheduling conflict :(

  • Totally doable :) You are going to want to show off that munchkin everywhere! :) I hope it works out!!
  • Ugh, those always seem to happen!  Hopefully your little one will be a pro at sleeping in the car and you can do both!  Better start training your baby to sleep in the car from birth :P  But like you said, at least then your DH will only have to take one weekend off from work!

Wait, your DH works weekends???  Eek!

He works Wed-Sat, so he'd need to take Friday and Saturday off.  He works retail (sells photographic equipment) so it's always hard for him to take time off.  :(

  • That really stinks but it sounds like you can make it work! I'll go ahead and start sending vibes now that you have a sleepy and non car-sick baby :)
