Here is my employment situation in a nutshell:
September 2010-I decide to take this 3 month course to get a much better paying job than I could w/o education. We agree I will not work through this time so I could use my time to gain as much clinical experience as possible so Id have an easier time getting a paid position.
November 2010- I graduate #1 in my class, and had the most clinical experience.
To date: Each person has found a paid position, I have not. Ive even branched out of town and still found nothing. Every single interview I have gone on tells me I need more experience or they just dont respond at all.
I was scheduled to do a working interview (second with the practice) today at 1. The woman emailed me at 9:15 last night that she already offered the position to someone else with more experience and she wanted to tell me so I didnt have to trouble myself with driving 3 hours for "nothing". We were at caribou, H was studying and I just started crying. So we came home and Im feeling like a huge piece of crap and H says I should email her and thank her for letting me know, that I understand etc. So I did. I tried not to let my emotions show. She responds that she really liked me but she had to do what was best or the business and that if I lived in the area she would offer me a PT position for me to gain experience. I jumped on it. It is absolutely worth it for me to move even if it is PT because I will be #1: employed, #2: gaining experience and I can always find a second PT job to make up for the lack of income. At this point we just need an extra couple hundred to be comfortable and not stretched, this will achieve that goal. She wants me to follow through with the working interview on Wednesday which I agreed to.
What does May 08 think?
**sorry this is so long, if you got through it you're an angel. If you reply, you're a saint**
Re: Trying to gain perspective
A few questions:
What does your H think? Is he okay to move?
Would it be easier on yall financially to go a few more months with less income or to pay to move and have PT income?
Do you think you could get PT where you are or are you just wanting to move?
If you moved and worked PT do you think a FT position will open up there or will you need to move again?
Sounds like you really want to move, so I'd go ahead and go on the interview at least. Did you say your H will be able to get a job where you move to?
She offered first, and she is single/no kids I would only be living with her for ~2 weeks I also wont be "moving in" with her. Just staying with her Sun-Thurs and Ill come home for the weekends until I get a place.
H is also enrolled in school and Im sure he will beable to find something. To be honest even Taco Bell or the like will match what he is making here/now. By the time he moves, he will have his certificate in plebotomy as well. SIL says Phlebotomy jobs are very prevalent in the area.
