How often do you wear heels?

I love high heels.  Now that I work in a lab every day, I can't wear them anymore.  Hubby and I rarely leave the house on the weekends now, either, and when I do... I'm going to the lab again!  I used to wear heels at least four times a week.  I miss them terribly, and can't wait until I can wear them all again.

How about you?

Re: How often do you wear heels?

  • For me its usually just on special occasions. Although I didn't wear them for the wedding either.

I spend most of my day chasing around a 1 year old so I usually wear sneakers or flip flops.

  • I wear them about 4 times a week.  Fri-Sun I usually wear flats or flops.  I love the feeling of being taller! :)

  • I love heels! But my feet are whiney and usully start to hurt shortly after leaving the house so a spare set of flip flops are always a must.

I usually wear heels once a week when Lance and go to dinner or out with friends.

  • In HS, I wore some form of heels every day, but then I moved to NYC and that just wasn't a reasonable idea with the amount I was walking, so they became a special occasion item. Then my feet got whiney and now it hurts pretty much anytime I wear them for any extended period,, so even though I moved out of the city, they are still only a special occasion item. I'm also a nanny, so like Montana I am usually chasing around a little one and wearing either flip flops or sneakers.

    I love heels!

    This for me.

Though maybe 1 day a week flats. Just depends on the few outfits I have for flats. Most of my pants are too long. Stick out tongue

  • I'm already pretty darn tall, and am not really interested in being 6 feet tall lol.

When I do wear heals, it's on a VERY special occasion. I would say maybe 3 times a year.

Not a fan of heals :-/

  • I used to wear them every day.  I even moved from a 2nd floor apartment into a 3rd floor apartment wearing heels.  It used to just be more comfortable for me.  But when my job changed and I had to be on my feet all day long, I started wearing more comfortable shoes.  Now I hardly ever wear heels.

  • I wear them a few days a week.  This week I wore them three days straight and one of those days it was a new pair.....my legs were not very happy with me after that stretch.

  • I used to wear heels mostly when my pants were too long to wear flats, but I started having ankle issues that I went to get checked out and was told they were a result of wearing heels too much. So now, I have 1 black pair in my closet and that's it. I haven't worn them much lately but I have them "just in case". I wear flats all the time now.

I also wore basically flat shoes for the wedding, and changed into flip flops for the reception. I was SO glad I didn't opt for heels for the wedding.

  • Like Becca, I wear them usually 4 out of 5 days a week for work because that way I don't have to get my pants hemmed. Stick out tongue  Although I wear them more at work in winter.  In summer I bust out my cute, work-appropriate sandals.  I rarely wear them on weekends though. Usually it'd boots in the winter and sandals/wedges in the summer if/when we go out.

Allie- When I first moved to Chicago I was determined to by all cutesy by wearing my heels on my commute to work (I walk to train, take train, and walk a few blocks to work).  It lasted all of about 3 days until I realized what a slow walker I was in heels and how silly I must of locked.  Now I laugh (in my head) when I see girls struggling in heels while walking to work.

  • I used to be in new home sales, and I wore TALL heels all day, every day.  They never bothered my feet at all.

Then I got a desk job where I wear jeans or much more comfortable clothing than I did at my last job, and heels absolutely kill my feet now.  It kind of makes me sad.  The walk from my parking garage to my cube is so long that even the days that I do wear heels (which is rare), I have to bring flip flops for that part of the walk...then I'm walking all over my slacks.

I put everyday, but really it's just mon-fri. On the weekends I wear flats. I do need to go shoe shopping, which I love to do, but I'm so picky it takes me forever to find something I'll actually buy.

Me too. I started commuting a few years ago, and I think my "regular" shoes lasted three days. My work area is full of cobblestone streets, which are not so conducive to heels.  Now I have a tub of shoes under my desk, so I wear sneakers/flip flops, and I keep all of my work shoes here.

In Japan I used to bicycle to and from school in my heels, which was no different than regular shoes, since the heel sits behind the petal anyway.  But I'd always keep a really fancy pair of heels in my locker at work, too, just in case I had a graduation ceremony or something to attend.  That way I wouldn't risk scuffing them up for the commute.

Haha, ditto!  Only it's annoying if I actually want to wear heels on the weekend and they're at the office.  That happened the night that DH proposed and we went out for a great meal. :O(

this dilemma can only be solved by purchasing more shoes.  :P

  • I have whiney wide feet and bad ankles, so I WISH I could wear them 4 times per week, but I only wear them on VERY special occassions.  I wore these today:

  • I'm always the special snowflake. :)

I used to almost never wear anything without at least a 3 inch heel, but last year, I fell down a hill and broke my ankle right above the part where it meets your foot, and heels were off-limits per doctor's orders for a whole year!  I only recently came off "probation", so I've been having to retrain my feet to adapt to heels again.  I wear them 2-3 times a week now, and I can't yet wear them for a whole day.  I'm up to about 4 hours at a stretch, though.

Later, when photobucket stops acting up, I'll include a picture of my first pair of post-healing heels.
