Government Theft

Anyone think this should be more of a big news story, instead of a small article in the crapital?

Just trying to get a little more conversation going, while we all wish we were outside!!

Re: Government Theft

  • I don't think this is a big news story, this happens in both state/local/federal more than you could imagine.  I know of at least 2 similar stories, and in my previous line of work (doing background investigations for security clearances) I heard many like this and some of the employee's are still working in the government.  Hopefully they can sue the pants off of the person, it really makes me mad to see people that are employee's of any government take advantage of the trust that has been instilled in them.

  • I know for fact, that she hasn't been prosecuted (even though this was found over a year ago) and that it was more than $71K.

well, you never know, some cases take years to pull everything together, esp. when it has to do with monetary fraud.  It might happen in the future.

It may happen everywhere, but it should be a big news story! Those are tax payer dollars (either state or fed) that are being spent for her pleasure. I think stories like this should come out more. I mean it wasn't 1,000, it was 71,000! That is crazy!

  • This is shocking to me considering the number of hoops I have to jump through just to get scientific reagents.  If I want growth media, I have to go through 4 different people and I can only request, someone else has to order.  Our lab doesn't even have a credit card to make purchases, we have that level of security and checks.
