Would this annoy you?

DH's friend came over Saturday night to hang out and stay the night.

He got up early the next day and was playing around on our computer - no big deal.

I got on our computer last night and there was all this weird sh!t installed on it and the internet was slow as fvck.  Turns out, friend installed all this virus scan crap (we already have a service) as well as Firefox. Now our computer is running slow and I have no clue how to turn off this new virus scan.

Now, it is my fault I am not tech-savvy but I think screwing around and adding sh!t to our computer was completely inappropriate and I am irrationally mad about it. I mean, WTF, who does that?

Re: Would this annoy you?

  • I would be pissed. You don't install crap on someone else's computer unless they ask you to... seems like that should be common sense.
  • I agree. If you're going to play around on my computer without actually asking and then install all this stuff on it, I'd be livid.

You could probably just uninstall everything and see if that helps...but I would be pissed.

  • Yes I would be pissed. My SIL (who has a bachelors in something computer related) used to do that to my parents' computer all the time. They finally had to tell her not to use their computer anymore. Huge drama. Could YH talk to his friend and see why he thought it was appropriate to install stuff on your computer? But I would be so pissed at him.

  • He probably thought he was doing you guys a favor, but who says he knows what he's doing, right? If the internet is slow now, I'd wonder if he messed something up. Either way, he definitely should have checked first.
  • Not cool. You don't mess with somebody else's computer without permission. I won't even think of doing this to DH's computer, nor would the thought cross his mind of ever downloading programs without my permission on my computer.

  • You have every right to be annoyed.  I would be pissed!
