where to register?
You ladies give the wisest advice and I've totally been keeping mental notes over the last year plus of what you've suggested so far... here's my pros/ cons. I just don't know what to do!
Buy Buy Baby- close to me, well organized (looks exactly like Bed Bath & Beyond), good return policy, coupons, registry completion. NOT located anywhere in ME or MA but available online.
BRU- makes me want to pull my hair out (and I doubt I can get DH to walk in the doors there due to anxiety), coupons, registry completion, lots of access to actual stores throughout country/ available online.
Do I register for easier access to me (and save my sanity) or based on ease for everyone else?

We (somewhat begrudgingly) registered @ BRU a few weeks back, and although I've heard a fair amount of gripes about the store, it was relatively painless and DH even faired pretty well. We went in once before and did a survey of what they had, then went back a week or two later after doing some online research to actually register. We made a list of what we wanted to register for beforehand (which I put on a spreadsheet b/c I'm an uber nerd and was bored @ work), and it made it pretty quick and painless. Given that we're having the shower in Maine, and most of our families are in-state, we figured it was more convenient for them to work w/ BRU.
I also made a mini registry on Amazon for a couple of odds and ends the BRU didn't carry and I'll probably include that on my invitation as well so folks have a choice of where the want to purchase from.
A friend of mine who just had her son in November also recommended Lucie's List as a great crash course read in registering- she does a great job of breaking it down by category and giving thoughts on what is really needed, what you can get by without and what is completely rediculous and probably won't ever get used. She's also pretty damn funny.

Thanks ladies, I'm pretty good with my list-- I seriously have been paying attention and between you ladies and my BFF, I know most of what is out there. I feel way too prepared for my own good! I already have list of brands/ products that I know I want to go with and what is non-essentials or baby-specific (bottles/ pacifers etc).
And to tell you the truth, I think the last time I was in BRU was when I was 10... I probably should venture back in there. I was just so in love with BBB and their organizational skills. Oh well!
I registered at BRU and Target. Most people are familiar and comfortable at Target, so it's convenient for a quick run-in-and-grab-something shopper. They also have a lot of the same stuff as BRU at cheaper prices.
I've found that both stores have way too much that's online only, which is annoying for everyone involved - although I can't really speak to the liklihood of anyone shopping store v. online, since none of my shower guests were told about either registry.
So, THAT's my best advice: regardless of where you register, be sure that whomever hosts a shower for you is savvy enough to include registry info in the invitations!!! My sisters threw a surprise shower, so I didn't have any input at all.

The only registry task I did in person at BRU was test-drive two different snap-n-go strollers with my carseat choice. (I made MH come for that trip, since he'd have to push the stroller too.) Otherwise I did all my registering via the website, so I didn't have to deal with the store very much, nor did my H.
I second amazon as a registry place, too. in many cases the best price is there. for example, I wanted to buy my cousin her bouncy chair, but the BRU price (where she was registered) was $60, and the amazon price was $40. I couldn't bring myself to buy it at the inflated price, so I got her something else.
