Two other teachers from my school got surplussed today. One has been teaching for 6 years, another for 8. The guy with 8 years of experience commutes 1? each way to get to our school (which is on the outskirts of Toronto), is the sole provider for his family AND just tore his calf muscle and Achilles tendon on Friday while playing badminton with some kids. He's going to be in a cast for at least the rest of the school year and possibly longer.
I feel like a total dork for having a meltdown. I don't have three people relying on me to pay all the bills or put food on the table. This whole situation blows.

Dup.
Just because his situation sucks more, doesn't mean yours doesn't still suck. If that makes sense.
Still, it does help to put a bit of perspective on things.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
That's a pretty unfortunate situation. I hope everyone's able to find something new.
And I agree with raynes--everything sucks for everyone in different degrees, but that doesn't make your stress or concern less valid. Everyone's entitled to some release of emotions, doesn't matter how minor the situation may seem in comparison to others. It still affects you.
I wish you all the best of luck as you try and find work.
