The Bahamas is a great place for a babymoon, as it's really clean, safe, and familiar. (I'm going to post pics and an update in a bit.) The people are super friendly, everyone accepts credit cards and US dollars, and it was just a very easy vacation!

We stayed on Paradise Island at the Comfort Suites. It's actually right next to the Atlantis, and although Comfort Suites isn't part of the Atlantis resort, they have a deal with the resort so that their guests have free access to all of the amenities. I believe that otherwise you'd have to pay something like $100 or $150/day to access Atlantis, or else stay in the resort which is a lot more expensive. Honestly, you could spend 3-4 days just exploring Atlantis (especially if you're, uh, extra slow like I turned out to be at 25 weeks!). It's full of pools, water parks, aquariums, beaches and restaurants, all very impressive and grand in a way that reminds me of Vegas (not that I've ever been to Vegas, but this is what I imagine Vegas is like). Also very family oriented... lots of kids.

Food wasn't included except for continental breakfast at Comfort Suites. There are lots of restaurants, within the resort, on the rest of Paradise Island, and just across the bay on the main island. I will say that we found the restaurants generally quite pricey... I think that they import everything from the US so there's not much you can do about it.

I wouldn't recommend the Bahamas if you prefer to really be immersed in an exotic culture. You'll see Starbucks, Ben & Jerrys etc. all over the place...restaurants will serve burgers, pizza, steak & fries etc. They do things in a somewhat local style but they really cater to American tourists. But because of the pregnancy, this familiarity turned out to be perfect for us. I didn't want to risk getting sick!

My brother's GF booked the package for us through cheapcaribbean.com.
