Registry ?

I know we are all done the wedding registry thing but my sister just did hers and it got me wondering...

1. Where did you register?

2. Did you get alot off of it?

3. Did  you have to return on it?  Was it a pain to return?

4. Would you recommend using them to other brides?

We registered at BBB and Crate and Barrel.....got nothing off C+B because people said it was a pain because things were constantly being discontinued or out of stock.

Re: Registry ?

  • 1. Where did you register? BBB & CB

    2. Did you get alot off of it? Yep, the majority, and most remaining items we purchased with gift cards

    3. Did  you have to return on it?  Was it a pain to return? We did return some things (some we decided we didn't really like in person), some we realized it was cheaper to buy the whole set vs. individual items (we saved like $130 on our pots and pans).  It wasn't that big of a pain to return.  I did it the day after we got back from HM, which was a Tuesday, so both stores were dead.

    4. Would you recommend using them to other brides? Yep, I liked both stores.  I'd highly recommend that post showers to check online on BBB registry b/c it seems like weekly we had different items go out of stock.

Random note:  I got the shower invite for a friend so I was looking at her CB registry and the bar piece they'd register for said it was no longer available, so I called friend to tell her as FYI.  She found it on their website under a new name.  She called and asked, apparently the original bar wasn't meeting California's Clean Air Act code so they changed the manufacturing process and renamed it.  Weird!

  • 1. Where did you register? BBB

    2. Did you get alot off of it? We got pretty much everything except for small items like a few random kitchen utensils, etc

    3. Did  you have to return on it?  Was it a pain to return? We did have a few returns because some people didn't purchase and inform BBB that it was for our registry, so items weren't marked off and we got 3 double items.

It was super easy to return, very accomodating.  We also cleared our registry with the 20% coupon just before the wedding instead of waiting the 30 days after, because we wanted it cleared prior to our wedding.

It was also super easy for my out-of-staters to buy online and have it shipped to my mom so they didn't have to travel with the gift.

    4. Would you recommend using them to other brides?  Absolutely.  I've referred both of my two girlfriends that were/are getting married after me.  What's nice is you get a gift certificate in the mail if the new person tells BBB that you referred them!

  • 1. Where did you register?  BBB and Crate and Barrel2. Did you get alot off of it?  Yes - all of our silverware, glassware, appliances, and pots/pans. Surprisingly, almost none of our china or knives.3. Did  you have to return on it?  Was it a pain to return?  Really easy to return at both places. I exchanged some plates at C&B that had blemishes, and they were very good about that, too.4. Would you recommend using them to other brides?  Definitely.

    1. Where did you register? BBB

    2. Did you get alot off of it? We got almost everything with exception to a few small things here and there.

    3. Did  you have to return on it?  Was it a pain to return? Didn't need to return anything.

    4. Would you recommend using them to other brides? Yup. Easy to deal with, they always have those 20% off coupons available, and I know if something had to be returned or exchanged it wouldn't be an issue.

  • 1. Where did you register?  BBB and Honeyfund2. Did you get alot off of it?  We got a lot but still had a lot left over.  We've since gotten a lot of the remaining items from BBB for birthday and christmas. 3. Did  you have to return on it?  Was it a pain to return?  BBB was super easy to return to, even duplicate items that were because people didn't scan the registry.4. Would you recommend using them to other brides?  Definitely.  The only problem I had with BBB is that the one I registered at in MI and also the one in my hometown have the fine china departments whereas other ones in the Buffalo area do not.  I got most of the things that weren't from the fine china part of the registry, but got very little of my china (and related stuff).  I kinda felt bad because I had a lot of stuff (at varying price points) in the fine dining section as even my everyday dishes (colorwave that were $35 per place setting) were in that section.  There wasn't as good of a selection once the fine dining section was excluded, which was the case for most of my guests.

  • 1. Where did you register?  BBB, Target, and Macys2. Did you get alot off of it?  We did get the majority of things we registered for and the rest we had plenty of gift cards for.3. Did  you have to return on it?  Was it a pain to return?  BBB was by far the easiest.  They are great about returns.  Even things we had shipped to us and were damaged, opened, or without receipts, they had no problem accepting.  Target was a disappointment because if you don't have a receipt they only allow you to return like $75 worth of merchandise PER YEAR.  We got a lot of dup stuff from there and not everyone gave us the gift receipt, so it was a bit of a hassle.  Macys was a joke.  Even WITH the original (not gift) receipt we only got store credit.  They were difficult all around.  We received broken dishes in the mail and they told me I had to file a claim with UPS...ummmm no!  I want unbroken dishes and YOU file the claim.4. Would you recommend using them to other brides?  Definitely BBB.  Target I would recommend with some hesitation.  Would not recommend Macys.

  • 1. Where did you register? We registered at Younkers (Bon Ton/Bergners), Target and Kohl's, ended up not using Younkers or Target. We found everything at Kohl's that we wanted and didn't want to have duplicate items at different places, I also decided that the fine china we registered for at Younkers would never get used and that was the majority on that registry. I nixed Target for the exact reasons that Brooke mentioned, they are such a hassle with returns. 2. Did you get alot off of it? We did get a lot off of our Kohl's registry, and a lot of stuff from Kohl's that wasn't on our registry but was similar to items that we registered for.3. Did  you have to return on it?  Was it a pain to return? I had an entire car load of returns, we registered for a few pieces of the Food Network serving/entertaining items, and someone got us all of them (like 20 chip and dip/vege tray sets). I decided that there was no way I would ever use all of them so I picked out my favorites and took the rest back. Returns were so easy and sometimes they will even take back things that weren't necessarily bought there but that they also carry. We also got quite a few GC's and I asked for store credit so I could get my Dyson and also some other things on the registry that weren't purchased for us. 4. Would you recommend using them to other brides? I have already recommended them to my BF who is getting married in October. I love Kohl's!!!

  • 1. Where did you register?

    BBB and Target

    2. Did you get alot off of it?

The only thing we didn't get was 10 of our 12 settings of China.

    3. Did  you have to return on it?  Was it a pain to return?

A few of the every day plate settings were broken and super easy to return. Someone got us a duplicate of something we only requested 1 of too and it was easy to return and get store credit for.

    4. Would you recommend using them to other brides?

    Absolutely.

side note: we still have to figure out about the china situation. I'm thinking about returning it for store credit and then getting another set of towels, because for some reason we only asked for 3 bath towels + washcloths - go figure!

  • 1. Where did you register?
Macys & Crate and Barrel. Macy's was a concession to my family, because there's no C&B close to them.

    2. Did you get a lot off of it?
Almost everything off Macys, which was annoying, because the stuff we really wanted was at C&B.  We did get a few things off C&B, though, but not our china. So we ended up buying most of the settings with wedding money.

    3. Did  you have to return on it?  Was it a pain to return?
Just one duplicate item to Macys, and it was easy.  They gave us store credit, so we just got something else we'd registered for.

    4. Would you recommend using them to other brides?
Yes. Macys gives you a percentage of the registry purchases back as a gift card, along with a percentage of what you spend on your Macys card if you register there. So we were able to add a couple of things we wanted but didn't include to the registry and purchase them after the fact.  And C&B was fine; we didn't have any issues with them, and they've recently extended the completion discount, so even better.

  • 1. Where did you register? BB&B and Target

    2. Did you get a lot off of it? Not really...we registered for 75 things at BB&B and got 22, and Target we only got a handful of things.

    3. Did you have to return on it? Was it a pain to return? We returned the dishes set his grandmom gave us because it was more blue in person and on the website it looked more purple, so I didn't like it once we got it.  They had no problem returning it for us and then we got a new comfortor set instead.  We didn't return anything to Target.

    4. Would you recommend using them to other brides? BB&B yes but Target probably not, simply because I felt like every couple weeks they were out of stock of something.

  • We registered at BBB and Target.  BBB was great, few things went out of stock in the months we were registered and they were fantastic with returns.  No questions asked, just gave us a gift card in exchange.  We got a lot off our BBB registry.

Target had constantly changing stock which wasn't fun to deal with, we got little off our Target registry.

  • 1. Where did you register? BBB & Target

    2. Did you get a lot off of it? Our Target registry was tiny, but we did get a couple of things off of there, and most of our registry at BBB.

    3. Did  you have to return on it?  Was it a pain to return? Didn't have any Target returns, but had several BBB returns. I used to work at BBB in college, so I was really familiar with the return policy and it was a breeze.

    4. Would you recommend using them to other brides? BBB definitely. Target is fine, but they kind of suck at taking things off the registry and I've heard the returns suck.

  • 1. Where did you register? - BB&B and C&B

    2. Did you get alot off of it? - We got most of what we registered for at BBB (or GC's that were enough to cover the rest), but not much from C&B.  Sadly, we only have one C&B in Houston, and it's not in a convenient location for most of our guests.  We had a few things shipped to us from this one, though.

    3. Did  you have to return on it?  Was it a pain to return? - We returned some to BBB (duplicates) - was a very easy process.

    4. Would you recommend using them to other brides? - Sure, to both.

    1. Where did you register?

    We registered online at www.myregistry.com

    2. Did you get alot off of it?

We got about 70% of the gifts.

    3. Did  you have to return on it?  Was it a pain to return?

    Nothing needed to be returned.

    4. Would you recommend using them to other brides?

Heck yes!  It was easy for guests to use, and allowed us to add things from stores all over the world--which was great for our international guests.
