Re: Check-in
Hi girls! So sorry I've been gone for so long, life has been so hectic with grad school, working part time, being an MOH to a bride 10 hours away, and starting my thesis that I haven't had a minute.
Best thing that happened this weekend: Getting a great painkiller in the ER on Saturday. (depressing, right?) I thought I had posterior shin splints and was just pushing through it for the past couple of months, but as it turns out, I have achilles tendonitis and while racing this past weekend it stretched out (almost to the point of tearing) and I'm now on a steroid pack and crutches. With strict orders to not run for 6 months. I'm having a pity party.
Excited to eat in the near future: not sure, I'm dieting pretty strictly to fit into a dress for the wedding in July, but I might treat myself to some yoguri tomorrow.
Exciting plans for spring/summer? Not really any. I have an internship that will take me to Alabama for a week (lol, yeah...) and then I'll be back in MD for about 2 weeks to do some thesis site research in PA and for the wedding in MD. I'm planning a trip for next May when I graduate though, somewhere in the caribbean.
Things at work: work is great, I love what I do at the botanical garden. School has been rough lately though. All of our design studio projects have been community collaborations and group work and I am in a group with a girl who is a complete twit, never shows up for meetings, is completely judgemental, which does not fly in our line of work (I kid you not, she presents like she's telling a fairy tale - the last project we did had a beer garden for a local brewing company as part of it and she literally goes "well, I was thinking that we would just keep the drunk people up there [snidely] and the normal people [emphasis on normal] can all enjoy the fountain and performances over here") WTF.
Shazzie, you didn't answer your own questions! And Musgral I hope your ankle heals fast.
What's the best thing that happened this weekend? H finally had a day off! His first day off in three weeks. He watched a movie when he got home from on call while i finished up my sleeping, then we went to lunch and saw a movie - Arthur - it was okay. He loved it, but I would say wait for DVD. We came home, had some sex (it's been awhile) and then took a two hour nap, which was unfortunate because it was 5:30-7:30pm and that totally messed up my goodnight sleep. Anyway, it was nice to spend a day with him. What's for dinner, or something your excited to eat in the near future (cooked at home or dining out)? Ummm... probably either fettucine alfredo or Chick-fil-A.Any exciting plans for the spring/summer? Trips? Adventures? No trips, no big adventures. Maybe a weekend to Savannah or Nashville after our next school check. How are things at work? No comment.

What's the best thing that happened this weekend? Hmm, we had a pretty lazy weekend. Soooo I guess the best thing was being able to sleep in!
What's for dinner, or something your excited to eat in the near future (cooked at home or dining out)? Tonight we are having stufed bell peppers YUMM but I am excited about going to a hibachi grill this weekend.
Any exciting plans for the spring/summer? Trips? Adventures? This summer we are going back home to Texas!! yay!! Other than that, this summer will be pretty boring.
How are things at work?

What's the best thing that happened this weekend?
I went out with some fantastic friends to the casino, and had a self realization that I'd much rather chill at home with some food, wine, and friends. It's so nice to have genuine girl friends, I don't know if I've ever had that.
What's for dinner, or something your excited to eat in the near future (cooked at home or dining out)?
I'm trying out an original recipe (stay tunned!), but we're going out with my parents on Saturday to celebrate my birthday...so that will be something good!
Any exciting plans for the spring/summer? Trips? Adventures?
Spring: finishing up my first level of teaching certification.
Summer:
2 summer classes (I think it's pretty exciting because after these, I only have two more until my masters!)
Going on a cruise in August
two weddings!
How are things at work?
Things are going ok. I love where I am, and what I do, but I'm finishing up a huge project, so thats a little stressful.
Hi girls! We have been dead lately, huh?! Hope everyone is hanging in there!!
What's the best thing that happened this weekend?
I can't disclose, but DH had a good day on Friday and we're hoping for some good news in the future.
What's for dinner, or something your excited to eat in the near future (cooked at home or dining out)?
DH is going to the baseball game tonight, so I'm on my own! But DH has this weekend off, so I think he's planning on making sauce from scratch since it's been so long since we've had it. MMmmMMM.
Any exciting plans for the spring/summer? Trips? Adventures?
Nope, nada planned. We're too broke! {sad face} Though we are going to Cleveland in May for a night-I bought DH tickets to see Rise Against & Bad Religion, but that's all that we've got planned.
How are things at work?
Fine. Except for the fact that I just found out today that the office manager's son, who had a position created just for him last month, makes $5 more an hour than I do. I am disgruntled!
noooooo!
more hugs! i'm so sorry, that's awful!

Thanks guys. I never thought I would miss running this much. I have an appointment with a specialist tomorrow and am already planning on starting yoga as soon as I'm cleared. I need to really stretch and strengthen my achilles before I can get back to running. Unfortunately this has put me out for the half this coming fall, but as lots of people have pointed out...there will be others.
I'm sorry, musgral! That stinks, I know how much you love running. Take it easy, and I'm glad to see you'll be starting yoga, I started doing it last week and I LOVE it. It just brings me that bit of peace and feeling centered that I need at the end of a long day. (((HUGS)))
Ok, ok, I'll answer my own questions....
What's the best thing that happened this weekend? I had a really awesome Saturday morning shooting an engagement session at the beach. It was gorgeous, kind of cool but kind of warm, and very "zen". Haha. And then they took me out for breakfast! Aaaaaand we've started TTC. Woot! I have no idea how it's going to go, but we're excited to be at this point where if it happens, we are as ready as we can be
What's for dinner, or something your excited to eat in the near future (cooked at home or dining out)? Tonight I'm making lasagna, and I'm VERY excited that it means I won't need to cook for the next 2 or 3 nights!
Any exciting plans for the spring/summer? Trips? Adventures? We're going on another cruise with DH's family the week of Memorial Day, this time to the Caribbean. I am SO excited, I need a break from work and by then I'll be in the midst of editing my first 2 weddings. Whee!
How are things at work? Things are ok. Not great, but manageable. I'm just at a point where I'm ready to move on, and it's frustrating because I can't do that for at least a few more months. I told DH that I don't want to just get another job. My goal is to go full time with the photography, so I'd rather focus my energy into that than starting another day job that I know I won't be happy doing.

SQUEEEEEEEEE!
What's the best thing that happened this weekend? I went for my first solo run outside! This is a huge deal; our neighborhood isn't the best and I was nervous about it. I ran from our house to H's work - 3.6 miles total! I stopped for walking twice, but I'm so friggin proud of myself!
What's for dinner, or something your excited to eat in the near future (cooked at home or dining out)? Um, we had Subway tonight - that's exciting. I haven't gone grocery shopping forever, and we probably won't have time for a while - I'm looking forward to many pasta dinners in our future!
Any exciting plans for the spring/summer? Trips? Adventures? We're running a 5k next weekend and our coed softball league starts the first Friday in May. Other than that, I got nothin'!
How are things at work?
Musgral, I'm so sorry about your injury! I know I haven't been running for long, but I've found so much comfort in it...I can only imagine how hard it is for you not to be able to do it. Yoga is freaking AMAZING though, so hopefully that helps somewhat.
Shazzie, congrats on TTC! How exciting!
