Random ? Dressers

I know this is random but I've been thinking about it because we plan to buy somewhat of a bedroom set when we move into a house.  (Latest move to being grown up)

How many dressers do you have in your master bedroom?  Do you share a dresser with DH or do you have your own?

TIA for indulging my inquiring mind!

Re: Random ? Dressers

  • We each have one. His is tall and thinner, mine is short and wider. Ha, kinda like us! :)
  • I'll answer my own question too!

My husband has two fairly large ones and I have two from when I was a baby.  Literally one was my changing table.  So they are a wee bit small for adult clothing!

  • We have one shorter/wider dresser that has 6 drawers (3 on each side) and one taller dresser with 5 drawers. We share both of them.

ditto this. however, we don't share- I have the shorter one (better drawer space).

  • We have 2.  I have a short wide one, he has a tall less wide one.

However, we really need 3 (we would share the 3rd one), but don't have the room for a 3rd one.  When I planned out the bedroom, I wanted 2 tall ones and 1 short one, or vice versa - but couldn't find any with the measurements we needed :(

  • DH bought the bedroom furniture before we met.  We have a long/low 6-dresser that we share and then we each have a short 3-drawer dresser.  He originally bought the 3-drawer dressers to use as nightstands.  I have since appropriated a much smaller table for my nightstand, but we do still each have a 3-drawer dresser to use.

  • we have two -- his is tall, with six drawers. Mine is shorter (not by much, though), and wider, and has 9 drawers. Our nightstands each have two drawers (John uses these for his socks and underwear, I use mine for bathing suits and misc bedside stuff). And, I have a leather storage bench for out of season stuff.

yes, I have too many clothes. But they are all neatly put away, and I am purging (SIX big bags going to Goodwill tomorrow!).

I'm thinking we have too many clothes as well!  Seeing as though we were planning on four dressers (two each) and currently use both closets in both bedrooms for clothes.  I think I see some major purging in our future!

    This. Sadly ALL this.

But we also have a 4 bedroom house and no kids so 'off season' things can be stored in other closets/dressers.

  • We share a double dresser and I have a tall chest.  DH constantly complains about his lack of drawer space, but he prefers to hang most things up.

  • We also have 2.  Dh's is taller with 4 smaller drawers on top and 4 large lower than that... Mine is shorter (half the height) and much longer.... NO WAY could we share a dresser... the majority of my clothes are hanging so other than underwear/bra's/socks I only keep jeans, jammies, workout clothing a few sweaters in there.

We also each have a nightstand which just holds books, cell phone chargers, extra pair of glasses etc.

  • One tall one: top two drawers are mine, bottom three are his

One wide one: left five are mine, right five are his (two drawers per side are very narrow, good for bras, socks, undies)

In the closet, we have another one, DH's from his childhood bedroom, and two drawers are completely useless (read: sunken) but he can't part with it. I use one drawer for my PJ stash and one for my purses. The rest is alllll T-shirts. He has way too many.

When his grandmother passed away, we inherited a gorgeous dresser set that's now in the guest bedroom. I keep some out-of-season clothes in there, but it's mostly empty. Interesting fact: we emptied the drawers before attempting to move the furniture from her home, and on what happened to be the first anniversary of her death, we opened one drawer and found all this jewelry... stuff that DH's mom never thought she'd see again (grandma's sorority pin, grandpa's medals from sports...). We KNOW we emptied the dresser... but there it was, sitting in our house under our noses for a year. Spooky.

  • We used to have one dresser that we shared because the master bedroom was small at our old house. At the new house, we have a regular dresser that is horizontal and tends to have smaller drawers and a taller dresser that has larger drawers. We split up the drawers in both so that we each have a mix of smaller and larger drawers.

  • We have one that we share, 4 big drawers and 2 small ones.  I actually have the 2 small drawers and one big drawer, he has the others.  We also have a huge walk in closet and the tendency to hang everything because of it.  We put in a closet system to make it more efficient.  Otherwise, we would each have a dresser.
