Please recommend places to eat and visit....
we are heading to Austin in a few weeks! Yaaaaay! I am a HUGE foodie and would love to know what you recommend for places to eat!
And any zoos, parks, anything else to see or visit? We have a 1 year old, so anything good for kids?
Thanks!
Re: Please recommend places to eat and visit....
The children's museum is really cool! It's interactive so I'm not sure if your little one is too young for it, though.
Our favorite restaurants are Magnolia Cafe, Enoteca and Trudy's. Austin has gotten a lot of food trucks in the last few years, but we haven't been to many of them yet!
Lots of great Tex Mex here, I like Maudies the best. Hula Hut is a fun place on the lake that is Tex Mex with a Hawaiian flair. Ditto pp on Magnolia Cafe, esp for breakfast. Love Torchys Tacos, esp the trailer park location on S. 1st, lots of unique tacos and the best queso! I have been wanting to try the food trailer Odd Duck Farm to Trailer on S. Lamar, I have heard rave reviews about it. Both Torchys and Odd Duck are BYOB if you visit the trailer location.
For you little one, you might look at going to Zilker Park and riding the train there, the Zilker Zepher. Depending on when you come, it will probably be warm enough to go to Barton Springs. It is an amazing spring fed pool with lots of room to lay out, but the water is coooold!
I've never seen this before. It's awesome!
Hi fellow foodie!
I'd recommend...
Olivia (S. Lamar at Oltorf)
Odd Duck Farm to Trailer (trailer on S. Lamar)
Gordough's (trailer in same lot as Odd Duck)
Mighty Cone (trailer on S. Congress)
Guero's (tex-mex restaurant on S. Congress)
La Condesa (upscale Latin on 2nd and Guadalupe)
The Salt Lick (Driftwood, TX location for the full BBQ experience)
So many others but those are the first that came to mind!
