I'm so excited and can't wait until our first pickup. We had talked about it last year and so I did some research and we decided to go with Breezy Willow Farm. The pickup locations were not that bad for us. I'm really looking forward to trying out some new recipes with some of the unfamiliar veggie. When I went to the farmers market yesterday I bought some kale to try out. I ended up making some pretty good kale chips. My fear is turnips so I'm already searching allrecipes for ideas.

We usually use some version this recipe, sometimes substituting soy sauce for salt or adding red wine vinegar or balsamic.
It's also kind of awesome with cheese. Nomnomnom.

Which CSA are you with?
Our second season starts mid-May and I can't wait. And, finally, my Saturday class is over so I should be able to get to the Farmers' Market at least for some greens. There's a guy with butter lettuce that makes all other salads look pitiful.
A CSA is a way to buy fresh veggies, fruit and often other products directly from the farmer. You pay a certain amount of money up front and, in return, you get a box of whatever is ready to pick each week. Ours costs $25 per week and runs for 20 weeks, May-Sept.

Shanda we went with Sunny Hill Farms. Here's their website. They are located in Whiteford, but they have three pick up locations, one in Havre De Grace, Whiteford and Abingdon. I started looking around at the area farms and this one really jumped out at me, obviously the price is not bad, pickup location, and you seem to get a lot, although I'm not really sure. The only down side was that they don't do half shares, but a full share was only $420. Most likely we will be sharing with our family.
Thank you Lisa! I can't wait to try these. I like Kale, but DH is not really a Kale kind of guy, although he now be.
We're going with Calvert Farms. We're actually going to be a pickup location. It should be pretty cool.
Ugh, I'm jealous... by the time we signed up pickups at the farm were full. I'm definitely going to be on top of that for next year.
