HBD?

Seriously? People on Facebook are now too lazy to write "Happy Birthday"?

(I know Happy Bday has been popular for a while, but even that bugs me).

I'm beginning to think the world is a little too dependent on acronyms. KWIM?*

*yes, I'm going for irony

Re: HBD?

  • When I saw your post title, I had no idea what HBD even meant.  FWIW, I like acronyms in certain situations. :) They definitely help at work when we have such cumbersome titles for people (non-custodial parent=NCP, for example). But FB HBD's? Um, h3ll no.  While I will admit to wishing many a friend happy birthday on FB, I will also admit that it's about the laziest way to do so (you could take a few seconds to make a phone call, or go even further and see them in person or send a card). But if you're too lazy to just be lazy, don't bother.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

I agree. If you are wishing something Happy Birthday on FB rather than calling them you can at least type.it.out! I like to send birthday cards - it's easy and cheap!

  • I love me some acronyms (obvs), but HBD -- OMG. I always feel a little awky when I see "T&P" for thoughts and prayers used on TN and TB.

True story: the first, like, dozen time I saw that, I read it as "toilet paper."

  • I didn't know what HBD meant until I opened the post. I agree people get a little lazy with the whole acronym thing, but at times it is convenient.

I am at fault with the whole T&P usage (insert embarrassed face here since Goggle Chrome won't let me). SBS-I laughed when you said what you thought it was, that's awesome.

  • FFS, HBD?  Awful.
