asking baby related questions
I am googling right now to see if I can find the answer myself but I want to try to see if there are an moms on the bump that have a latex allergy. I'd love advice on which products I should avoid-- I know I need to buy certain nipples for bottles and nasal aspirators...
Anyone have any "friends" on the Bump that might be a good resource for me? Or advise me on which board I should post on to seek advice?

Cool- good to know! I want to avoid contact with as many products as I can.
My biggest concern (and this is something I won't deal with for a little bit) is when my child goes to a birthday party with balloons. I've had reactions to picking up kids after they roll around and play with ballons.... I'm going to have to wash and change my kids clothing before he/she touches me. Have you ever had to deal with that yet? I honestly have been thinking about this for so long (since I was a teenager and had my first reaction!)...
No, but we haven't been to parties with balloons, and we buy the boys mylar balloons and if we have regular balloons they are just hung as decorations and I don't touch them...
I am also allergic to latex. Most nipples and pacis are made from silicone but the ones that are yellowish are made from latex. The package should state what they are made with. My hospital does not use latex gloves except sometimes in the OR, but I am also allergic to balloons (powder on the balloons gets in the air and my eyes and throat swell), some turniquets that they use for drawing blood are made of latex. And bandaids. Just ask and keep reminding staff in the hospital.
I was not always allergic to latex. It progressivly got worse in the last 10 years or so.
I'm very proactive with medical care (work at a hospital myself but also constantly at doctors, etc) so I'm very verbal about that. I'm mostly concerned about the stuff I don't know about and that's baby gear! Good to know I have other people on here!
I've had two episodes of throat swelling, breathing problems in my teens and have been pretty good about avoiding it since.
