Photos week 2 check in. Or week 1 :)
Shutter speed and ISO, post 'em if you got 'em. If you're getting caught up with week 1, post those.
I'm downloading (uploading?) and will post later.
What did you think of this week or last week? Helpful? Confusing or not worth the effort?

My silly Lily is almost 4.

Re: Photos week 2 check in. Or week 1 :)
I'll go first!
My pictures are kind of dark, since I really don't have much natural light near my kitchen. Even with the lights on, this is the best I could do. Even though the pics themselves aren't great, I at least was able to get a feel for what shutter speed does.
ISO 1600, shutter speed 1/80 (anything else I should be sharing?):
ISO 3200, 1/1250:
I also tried to take a few shots on manual after this part of the assignment. Here's one I took of my dog in the sun. I was fairly pleased because usually when I take pics of him in the sun, the sunny parts are kind of blown out but I thought the exposure here was decent. Of course, I'm new, so what do I know?
I thought this week was good, I am definitely learning. I really like the assignments that clearly show you how changing the settings changes the picture. I think my biggest challenges will be 1) keeping it all straight, and 2) figuring out exactly when the best times are to use these different techniques. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed but I'll keep working at it and hopefully get the hang of it eventually.

I found the link..
so w/ my lil camera it does this thing that in low light it will take two pictures w/ two different.. somethings "modes" one pic is usually great and the other blurry, do ya think it's just the ISO or maybe it's doing the shutter speed? or maybe it's smart enough to do a combo? I know I can change my ISO manualy but not sure if I can w/ the shutter speed, but it did say I can change modes (action vs landscape)

I think I've heard of this...is it something new? does the flash fire with one and not the other?
MrsMEW -- great! I agree about the class, I like the comparison shots to show you what the difference is between the settings.
I think the shot of your dog is great! Esp. for one of your first in manual. Gawd, I think I almost thew my camera against the wall when I first tried out manual -- everything was wrong and I was totally lost on how to fix it. Actually, that part hasn't changed much, lol.
I emptied my card on my computer at work and then ran out of day to get my pics posted. I will catch up in the morning. No, the afternoon. Deadline in the morning. (Do your work, Kate!)

OK, I am having a really hard time with my pics. Ugh. I have tried everything. But I waited until now to take my pics and there is no natural light. I have tried the flash, no flash, changing my ISO, you name it, I have tried it. We have a white sink which I think just added to my frustration.
Anyway, my first photo was taken with a ISO of 400, 1/25 Shutter Speed, F 4.2, and shot at 30 MM. Pic number two was taken with a ISO of 400, 1/500 Shutter Speed, F 4.2, and shot at 30 MM. But, everything is all wrong with my pics so no difference can really been seen. Ugh. I am going to give it another go in the morning and see if I get different results.

Getting caught up. Pesky work was in the way.
My house is too dark, and Lily was playing in the fountains at Curtis Hixon Park so I decided to do my homework there
Two different spots just because.
I was surprised by how high the f/stop had to go with the slow shutter speed! I guess it makes sense, but it would've taken me a long time to figure that out if I weren't on shutter priority mode.
