So, my current gym is across town...like 15 minutes to get to, 15 minutes to get back from my house. The fact I at most am at the gym for 60 minutes, now turns into 90 minutes. Now, it's a gorgeous well kept gym, has a daycare, etc. However, it's expensive. Like...Really Expensive.
I went to look at my first (out of 2 I will look at) today. This one is LITERALLY down the street, 1 mile from my house. Now, it's HUGE...kind of retro 80's/90's style carpet, but has a ton of space for weights, a few different cardio areas (including a women's only, but that doesn't make a difference to me, and it's $10 more a month). They still have a pool like the other place. Has a sauna, whirpool, showers, etc. Not bad. I went and did 35 minutes of cardio and was there in 2, home in 2, ...gone for about hour, considering I got a tour also. The price? HALF the cost of my gym if I was to go month to month...Except in May they are having a summer sale...$125 bucks from May-Aug (total!!)...So I think I may join this one, at the very least for the end of the pregnancy and while I am on leave (if I have energy to workout, I won't be gone long for H or family watching the baby). The biggest issue was their daycare hours...but realistically, I can't use it for at least 6 months, anyways.
I'll probably look at the other one next week...
Re: Just checked out a new gym
If they have a summer sale, they will probably have others. But it never hurts to check out other gyms that might be closer to home.
Personally I don't think I would care what the gym would look like as long as they have the equipment and facilities that work best for me.

I agree. That's why I work out in my scary basement - it has the treadmill, yoga ball and light weights that I use
But hello, talk about a savings! Plus you'd be saving money on gas from driving to the old one and back.
