Advertising?
I have my own Photography business that I'm building up. Having just moved to Austin, I'm now trying to re-build everything back up in a new place. In doing so, I'm looking for places to put little ads. I've already done the chronicle online, and of course there's craigslist, but I'm looking for any other website there might be to add my info. Anyone have any ideas? I photograph pretty much anything, portraits (family, couples, maternity, newborn, etc) and am trying to get more into weddings. Thanks for any input!

Check out Austin Monthly Mag. I don't know how pricey it is, but one of my neighbors had good luck listing her business there. Also, I think there's an Austin Wedding magazine as well, or some variation on that. I'm not sure how much it would cost to list on theknot, but there is at least one nestie here who has her wedding business listed.
Finally, if you have a blog, please feel free to share. It seems that the more popular photography nesties around here have great blogs to share their work, which drums up business as well.
Great question. I'm planning on starting a business this summer and have been wondering the same thing. Maybe you could create a FB page about it and share it with your friends. If people see it that someone they know "likes" it, maybe they'll check it out.
Also, do you have a website? I don't know all the Nest rules on stuff like that so if you do, would you PM it to me? I'd love to check it out. I've been wanting to get some pics of me and DH made but I don't have much $ to spend. TIA!

I have a FB page already, a business page, but I can only suggest it to my current friends on my personal page (wish I could suggest to locals, because I just moved here, I know pretty much no one here!). Wish there were a way I could market it outside of my personal friends, because I really don't want to add a whole bunch of people I don't know, heh.

I was contacted by a make-up artist trying to do the same thing I am (get my name out there), and is offering free make-up for photography clients. We're talking about networking, which could be great for both of us.
Little steps, I guess! :]
