help me do my homework/poll - your dream house

i have to sign a 2 minute story about my dream house. give me some ideas... i have to talk about the environment (basically the neighborhood: such as safe, close to shopping, schools, etc.), the size (such as acres, bedrooms, bathrooms, floors), and the features (such as pool, deck, porch, hot tub, etc.).

i know i want a washer/dryer in my closet. an infinity pool that looks out onto the ocean... what else... tell me what you would want.

Me:39 Dx LPD, Fibroid, AMA and all that goes with that. H:37 Dx low motility and low morphology. TTC since 3/12. Clomid 8/12 and 9/12: BFN. 11/12 on a break for Myomectomy sched. 11/26. Resume TTC early 2013.

  • I'm assuming dream is like...not realistic at all right?

A cabin-like home in the mountains somewhere (somewhere that gets all four seasons, but not  insanely hot summers...Colorado somewhere?) I want a huge wrap around porch and a pool and outdoor hot tub. I'd like it to be on a lake so we can jet ski and intertube. I want an awesome grill and outdoor furniture on the porch, some parts of it covered and some not. I'd like 2 acres, but some of that can be fenced in for Phoebe. In a quiet, safe area in a good school district, not in the middle of the hustle and bustle but not too far removed. I'd like a grocery store, gas station, etc. within 10-15 minutes, but I don't need the closest mall or anything else to be any closer than 25 minutes away. I'd like some hiking trails nearby. Five bedrooms, a study/office, a loft (separate from the study) just for my reading, three bathrooms (I don't want to clean any more than that). A kitchen with a gas stove and a flat burner type thingy...what are those things called? Where it's built in, like a pancake stove? Anyways...hardwood floors throughout most of the home. I want two washer and dryers each so I never get backed up on laundry. I think the home itself would be about 4,000 sq ft. Most of my "dream" stuff has to do w/ the location and the outdoor stuff, I guess. I could go on...lol.

  • I have a binder of ideas torn out from magazines Embarrassed It's mostly decorating ideas.

I don't need a huge house - 2500 square feet would be plenty, but my list of wants:

    - A Basement or Rec Room with a Pool Table & TV Area

    - Master Bedroom on the same level as a living area, kitchen, laundry so when i get old I can just avoid the upstairs (or downstairs if there's a basement)

    - Built In Bookshelves

    - An Indoor Storage Room - like just a HUGE closet so I can store things in the climate controlled space and not worry about bugs/heat messing things up.

    - Island with a bar area in the kitchen

    - Separate Dining Room

    - No Carpet - just hardwood & tile - I'd really like brick floors in the kitchen

    - A dual shower head shower in the master bath

That's all I can think of for now.

  • Ha, yes but it will never happen!

I don't know how many kids we'll have...hopefully more than two and less than five? Hehe. I'd like three or four but it depends on finances and we'll see how it goes w/ #1. ;)

  • A gourmet kitchen with a sub zero fridge and a viking stove...hey it's a dream home right? haha

With a built in trash compactor, wine seller, movie room, man cave that's an Irish Pub for H, totally with you on the Infinity pool overlooking the ocean, definitely an outdoor kitchen with a fireplace with big comfy seating outside covered of course.

A beautiful walk in with one of those dressers in the middle and tons of shoe shelving.

Clawfoot bathtub and a rain shower with two heads on it.

I would also like a little small bar area in our master like between the room and the bathroom where we have a mini fridge, microwave, and keurig coffe maker haha.

I would love a basement with a pool table and bar and arcade games for the kids as well.

Distressed wood floors throughout and cypress exposed beams.

  • I want about 100 acres of land to be able to raise some livestock, grow some of my own food and to just have a lot of space to myself.  I would like this to be either in the mountains or very close to them.  I would want my house to be about 4-5 bedrooms with a lot of natural light coming in.  I would actually like something like this in design that I could open up and would also be very environmentally friendly.  I would want a LARGE kitchen decked out in all the latest appliances and lots of counter space.  I would want an outdoor kitchen area as well with a really nice patio.  A lap pool would be awesome, but in Colorado I would probably need it to be an inside pool so I could use it for more than 3 months of the year.  The house would have a large area for a gym with a full weight set/racks and several treadmills and other cardio machines.  One of the bedrooms would be converted into a large scraproom with LOTS of table space so I could really spread out while I worked.
  • Oh yeah....I would want a bar area with lots of local brews on tap and wine refrigerator.
  • Tiled patio, small yard w/ a lemon tree, 4 indoor/outdoor balconies (Iots of windows too-- I like natural light), marble steps, a marble floor, barrister bookcases, etched glass on the kitchen cabinets, built-in/hidden refrigerator, 3.5baths, w/ a cute English Setter at the door and a winery and peach orchard nextdoor.

God, I so don't want to have to leave this place!!! Going home is truly going to be tragic!
