Mixed Container "Recipe" for full sun?

I have two planters on my porch that get full sun from 1:00 pm until basically sunset. I live in zone 7b according to garden.org. I really want full pretty planters but it seems like the sun scorches everything I put in them. What type of flowers can I put in them that can take full on sun?

  • Mexican petunias, vinca, marigolds, succulents, bacopa, calabrochoa, and zinnias all do well in full sun.

Add to that list Lantana, Verbena, Salvia, Gomphrena, Geraniums, Bidens and Pentas.

  • I can't believe I forgot pentas!  They're one of my favorite container plants.
