why is Donald Trump pretending to run for President?
Re: why is Donald Trump pretending to run for President?
Well, I don't think anyone can say the man is short on ego.
The running for president isn't that big a surprise to me. The birther nonsense is.
Everyone I take lunch with (five people, I am the sixth) told me they would.
ETA: I realized that sounded like "I am the sixth person who would vote for him" and that's NOT what I meant. lol.
And her for a first lady, I think not.
I think his appeal is similar to Ross Perot's. People like the idea of a business person running the government. But, didn't "The Donald" bankrupt at least 1 or 2 of his companies?
I'm not sure owning/running the Miss America pagent and having his own reality show makes him fit to be the president.
But hey, part of the beauty of the system is that anyone can toss their hat in the ring, right?
I agree, I think people are sick of watching politicians get elected and just p!ss away money and not get much accomplished so they think anyone could do a better job of it.
Why does it have to be a joke? Anyone can run for president, esp if you have enough money and support to do it. Heck we had a actor as a president before.... why not a rich business man, who has his own money? Maybe we would actually get something done?!
I'm not a supporter just spinning it around way....

Obama ran and won for president and he didn't have much experience.
Neither did Bush, and he was a businessman before he was governor of Texas. Schwarzenagger (I know I butchered that haha) obviously won as governor of CA and I bet he would run for president if possible.
So like I said earlier - the running for president itself doesn't surprise me really at all. I do think it's a publicity stunt bc Trump strikes me as very much into....well, Trump (and I know him so well!) but I don't think it's a joke or a shocker or anything.
It's a joke because he's talked about it before and talking about it just makes him "worth" more. His book sales go up, his tv shows are watched by more people, his hotels are booked. I'd be surprised if he actually intends to run. Just pretending to think about it turns him a profit and gives him publicity.
