oil price vent

We had 150 gallons of oil delievered today.  Since we heat our hot water with oil this should be enough to bring us into Fall- with the hopes that if prices drop this summer I can also fill my tank.

Guess how much it cost us, just guess?!?!

524.68 yes five HUNDRED dollars for a half of a tank of oil.

  • I just got oil last week too. I Had them only deliver 100 gallons because there was no way I was paying a ton. Well I did anyway.  $349.90.  I used to be able to fill my tank for that price.

  • Ummm I just got a bill on Friday from the oil company for $867 (for a full tank)!!  That's more than my mortgage!

  • Cah-raaaaazy! :(
  • I feel your pain!! Our house is nothing close to being heat efficient, we had oil delivered 5 times this winter between November and March, each time with at least 100 gallons, and twice filling the tank. I can't wait to move!!!

yeah but read my post again on how much we spend on gas for cars every month and you won't be so jealous. Living in the middle of nowhere is great for cheap mortgage, but we make up for it by having to drive so far to get places.

  • um, yeah.  i don't want to add up how much oil cost this season.  it hurt is all i know...and we keep the thermostat at 64 during the day and 58 or 60 at night!

  • Last time DH called for delivery (last week, I think) they recommended only doing half because prices were so high. That's always a good start to a call Confused

  • We got 100 gallons on Monday and it was $354. Ick. Ick. Ick. But hopefully that will last us until fall....or close to it.

    I feel your pain sistah.

  • We got our propane filled up a couple of weeks ago, should be enough till next Fall. Wish I had your bills! Was $968 :(Between that and both of our car taxes are due next month, wont be having any fun around here :(
  • I had ours filled halfway (100 gallons) and it was around $360. HATE. Our house is usually 62 during the day if we are home, 60 at night/when we're at work.

I am hoping it lasts til fall as well but it's still pretty chilly out.

  • When we were at the inspection for our new house the oil truck pulled up to fill the tanks.  Yes, TWO tanks.  We ran out and stopped the oil guy while our Realtor called the seller's agent and had them call to cancel the order.  We would have had to pay them for all that oil when we close in  a couple of weeks. No way!   It probably would have been over $1500, easily. I'll be filling to those suckers when the prices are lower!
