We are beginning our home extension when the excavator arrives early tomo morning! He'll be digging for the foundation, retaining wall and a gas line for a propane tank so we can replace our electric range with gas. No more nasty rice and uneven pancakes, yay!
In the first phase, we will be adding a shower to the downstairs bathroom and updating the sink/vanity, fixtures and perhaps toilet.
After that we are going to update the two upstairs bathrooms and fix our kitchen with new cabinets, an island, new stove, fridge, etc.
In addition to Home Depot and Lowe's, does anyone have recommendations for places to look for things? I just received a brochure from Signature Hardware. We are on a budget, but are looking for good quality at a good value.
Thanks, Ladies!
Re: kitchen/bath remodel recs
Bigger retails stores you can get big discounts compared to smaller stores.
As we found out recently you can basically tell HD what you want to actually pay and get them to mark it down.
500 vanity was 225 out the door if you are pushy enough with granite.
Also look for sales rebates.
Our cabinets from Lowes were retailed at 6,500 and we paid roughly 4,000, we did midline grade and upgraded stains, etc.
DH also just started working for a guy installing custom organizational cabinets. (the fancy pot holding stuff lol).
Basically be pushy with stores to get what you want to pay what you want. We are leaving as we go but having Dh as a contractor helps.
I did not realize this... I will have to start pushing more, or bring you with me, Navy. LOL!
