Question about changing name

Hi ladies! After over a year of being married I've decided to change my last name but I'm not sure of how to go about it.  Do I go to SS first?  TIA

Re: Question about changing name

  • Yes, that's where you start.  Specifically, you'll need your marriage certificate with the raised seal.  I went in Egg Harbor Township in the afternoon and it took me about 20 minutes total.

From there it's off to the DMV and then continuing down the list of everything in your maiden name.

  • Here's the link to my blog post on changing your name.  Just ignore the military stuff.

  • If your new last name has an apostophe I would ask his family about it.My new last name has it and it's so annoying some places use it and some don't. If I had it to do again I would leave it out like the rest of the family has...no one told me. Good luck!

Are you kidding me?  How sh!tty that you can't have his name without going through a hassle.
