Has anyone else been diagnosed with Vestibulitis??

I'm 25 and just a few months ago was diagnosed with vestibulitis.  They first tried some antibiotics and I was on those for about 2 months...now finally they have switched me to estrace (estrogen).  It's so strange to me that I am going through this...anyone else have any strange things happen like this??

  • My best friend has been dealing with chronic pain from Vulvodynia for almost 2 years now. I know it's been very frustrating for her and it's been difficult for her to find a good doctor who really can help. She's found a few online support groups that have helped - it's nice to know you're not the only one going through something.

I hope that your new treatment is successful and you can find some relief.

  • Yeah,

It's extremely painful to go through.  I'm hoping this treatment will help.  I've also heard that it could be laser treated too.  Right now it's just a burden...my poor husband!

  • Yes I have it. For me there ended up being no other option than having the surgery to have the inflamed area of skin removed. There is still some minor pain but much much better. The surgery was painful but not nearly as bad as I expected. Good luck! I hope you find an option that works for you.
  • I was diagnosed with it two years ago.  I had been on birth control for five years and I thought that the pain might be from that, so I had changed types of birth control about 7 times.  This did not help.  Sex used to be so painful I would cry and I dreaded doing it.  Sometimes just sitting for long periods of time would cause extreme pain.  I asked my doctor if the birth control could be a cause of it and she said "possibly".  She said there is no exact cause for it, but to help with the pain have plenty of foreplay before sex, use lube, and she also gave me some gel to numb that area (the vestibule).  It still didn't help very much and the whole time I was convinced it had to be the birth control.  I stopped taking my birth control about 3 months before my wedding and I noticed a world of difference in two weeks.  As time went on it got so much better.  I have now been off my birth control for almost a year and I am now without pain.  Not saying this will work for you, but this is what worked for me.
