Poll Fea Meds

What type of flea meds do you use? [Poll]

Re: Poll Fea Meds

  • We use and alot of our friends us comfortis. I love it! We just give him a pill once a month/month and a half. H read online that it can last up to 2 months. It is kinda expensive I think we pay 80 for 6 months.

  • We used advantage for a long time it it seamed to stop working. When we talked to the vet about it he said to switch it up after a while, like 6 months on one and 6 months on another brand. It helped but after the neighbors and there flea infested dogs moved out we didnt really have to treat for fleas anymore

We used Comfortis when we adopted Emma b/c the poor thing was COVERED in fleas! It worked awesome, no fleas after a day! The only reason I don't use it regularly is that it doesn't protect against ticks. I use Frontline instead.

This.  We fortunately don't have a problem with ticks in our area, so we have never had to use that protection and have never had a problem.  Comfortis is the only thing we use for fleas because nothing else worked.

  • First off, I want to say that we live out in the country and fleas are a HUGE issue out here.  We try to treat our yard a few times a month, but honestly, with all this brush around us, it's a losing battle.

We have tried frontline, advantage and they don't really seem to do the trick.  But when I was at the vet last year they gave me some pills that are taken orally and those seem to work best.  We give our dogs the pills every month or so.  I can't remember the brand name but they work much better than frontline or advantage.

I will have to think about the brand name and let you know.

  • We found out our Doxy dog was allergic to fleas and our vet recommended Comfortis.  Since he started it over a year ago he hasn't had a single flea.  I also love that it is in pill form so it's much less messy and I don't have to worry about applying it precisely.

The only warning is that it can upset their stomachs, so we were told to give it to him after he's eaten and to watch and make sure he doesn't throw it up.  We've never had an issue and all his skin issues are clear.

  • We use Comfortis and it works great.
  • We use Advatix because it has the tick protection too.  Lilli doesn't have any flea or tick problems, but we have always used the medicine on her, so I guess it's working.  She also doesn't go outside much, so I guess that helps.

  • We use comfortis and I highly recommend it!  Our pup has not had one single flea or tick since we put him on it!
  • We use Comfortis for Wyatt, and something else for Diva (I forget what). Wyatt must have super fleas because even w/ the comfortis he is still itchy.. I'm starting to think he has a food allergry or something. =/
