H's b'day

It's MrShoe's b'day next week and while I definitely didn't forget, I just realized today that I have nothing planned.  Well, I'm going pick up his gift tomorrow so I have that covered but that's it.  We're both crazy busy and he's working all weekend so it's ok, right?  Technically we have a sitter this weekend since MIL will be at our house for the weekend but we just went to dinner this past weekend and like I said, he's working all weekend.  We'll probably cook something nice for dinner Sat evening.  Should I get him a cake?  We're having a little get together with some of his friends in a couple weekends, I was thinking I'd get a cake then.

I am aware this makes no sense, just tell me if I'm a shitty wife or not.

Re: H's b'day

  • nope you are not a shitty wife, by any means.. your plans sound like they fit in perfect with your crazy schedule, and you wont kill yourself trying to go overboard planning something.

oh and happy birthday Mr Shoe!!

  • nope you're good.  What did you get him for his bday?

    I'm either getting this:

    Or this:

MIL is getting whichever one I don't get.

I guess I feel bad because he always makes a big deal out of my b'day but mine is not smack in the middle of the busiest time of year.

  • Is that a turkey fryer or a crawfish pot?

Both of those look like good gifts.  Our anniversary is next week and I can't WAIT to give the hubs his gift!  I got him the meat grinder attachment for the mixer, the sausage stuffer attachment, and a cookbook about making homemade sausage.

  • I think that picture is both but I'm getting the crawfish pot/burner set.  He really wants both so I'm happy he's going to get them.

Your H will love the grinder.  We use ours all the time.  And MrShoe loves making his own sausage & boudin.  Great gift!

  • I'd say that's enough! Don't stress yourself over it, and I'm sure he'll be THRILLED about his gift!
  • One thing you should do, when you get a crawfish pot, get him a 100 quart one (I think it's quarts they're sold in?  just whatever it is, get the 100).  Those do one sack best.  Some people I know have to do one sack in two different pots because their pot isn't big enough.  My parents got DH a really nice 100 quart one for his honey-do shower and the men always seem to like it.

Damn.  I got the 80qt.  The guy told me that was perfect for doing a sack.  Oh well.  I have my receipt; he's more than welcome to go exchange it.

I got guilted into getting a cake.  I hope Winn-Dixie will do b/c I don't have time on Sat to go anywhere further than that.
