HELP!!-- with a cover letter!

Hello ladies! I am applying for a job at a local warehouse. On the application it asks for 1st choice and 2nd choice position. The first is a customer sales position and the other is working in the actual warehouse. I feel like I could do both jobs really well, but my issue is the cover letter. This is what I currently have:

I am responding to your job listingon www.abcdef.com for the CustomerSales Representative position. I feel that I would be a great asset to thisteam because I am a hard working and dedicated individual who works well withother people. I am very outgoing and am great at multi-tasking. I have also hadover a year?s worth of experience in the customer service field.

I realized when I was done that not once did I mention the warehouse position. How would I include that information?

TIA! :)

P.S.

Here is the information about the warehouse position: Warehouse, Assembly and Shipping positions: label application, candy wrapping, foil stamping, engraving, pulling, packing & shipping orders. Must be able to read and understand invoices, be detail oriented and be able to lift & carry up to 30 lbs, bend, stoop, and be able to stand / walk or sit for the majority of the shift.

  • I don't know if there is a way to address a wildly different position in a CL.

  • What about 2 cover letters or is that too much. Maybe a "additional cover letter available upon request"?   I hardly write one so I just want to make sure. :)
  • I'd stick with one CL for the main job you want. But the one you posted needs some work. Focus more on experience and accomplishments and less on soft skills.

  • I agree with Dr. L. The positions are too different to talk about in one letter, but if the company lets you indicate that you'd be interested in more than one position on the site, then I think that's sufficient. And this cover letter definitely needs some work. It's very generic, then you mention at the end that you have a year of customer service experience. Talk more about that and less about your organization and multi-tasking and ability to work on a team (the "soft skills" as Dr. L called them). Really the best thing to do is, rather than say you have those skills, show you have them by citing (very briefly) a few examples from your previous job where you used the skills the company is looking for. Compare your previous job to the job listing and cite examples where your skills would be relevant. I always think about my fiction writing when I write cover letters - good fiction has a show, don't tell policy, and I think the same is true for cover letters.
