How much would you charge for this?

We got a new dining room table.  We needed something that was normal height now that we have kids.  Our other table is a counter height set, six chairs, with a "butterfly" leaf.  See pic below - only two of the chairs are shown as we moved the rest to the garage before taking a pic.  We want to sell it - we have zero room for it - as you can see since it's currently sitting in our kitchen and I can't even get to half of my cabinets.

What would you ask for a set like this?  We paid I think $700 in 2007.  It's heavy as all hell, solid, and in decent condition.

  • I don't know, I would probably say at least a few hundred. Can you browse some craigslist posts to see what similar items are going for?

  • We checked a few ads.  Asked some family/friends too.  And the responses are all over the place.  Someone told me I'd be lucky to get $150, someone else said $400.  That's a big difference.  lol
  • That is a big difference! I would try for as much as possible, if you don't get any bites then you can always drop the price down.

  • thats pretty! i would probably start out higher and put obo or whatever..
  • maybe $200? whatever you want, ask more because the person will most certainly negotiate.
Me:39 Dx LPD, Fibroid, AMA and all that goes with that. H:37 Dx low motility and low morphology. TTC since 3/12. Clomid 8/12 and 9/12: BFN. 11/12 on a break for Myomectomy sched. 11/26. Resume TTC early 2013.
  • I would put $250 OBO. Maybe even taking the picture with the leave attached, so the viewer can see how big the table actually is. Good luck! Anymore than $250, someone is just going to go the store and buy themselves something new for just a few hundred dollars. It's like, do you need the money or do you just want to get rid of it? (Of course we all need a few extra bucks, but I think you know what I mean.)

  • AND PS, we have the same table and it basically takes up my ENTIRE dining room.  We NEVER use it and I'm squooshed, on my computer desk, between the table and the wall. H refuses to take the leave out b/c we have glass on top of the table protecting it, and don't have a peice of glass for when the leaf is out.  ANNOYING!!

  • I'm with the others - say $250 OBO.  When people know you're willing to negotiate, you'll get more responses.
  • I would pay 350 for it, but I dont know if others would. Its gorgeous btw.

  • If you're going to put OBO I'd definitely start at $300. You can always do a REDUCED post later, but when someone puts OBO I automatically lowball them at first.
