Re: poll: easter eggs

  • Yes, I dye eggs. It's one of my most favorite things to do each year!

Growing up we'd do 3 dozen, 1 dozen for each of the kids. I still do about that many, depending on who will be there.

I've found that writing on them with white crayon when still warm from boiling is best. Also, coloring them when cold is best for non-splotchy. Using food coloring instead of the PAAS tabs always makes them streaky, too. It's worth the $.99 to me.

I hunt! I love love love hunting for eggs. JJ said it will be my last year, apparently next year I'm supposed to hide them for a 9 mo old? Please... not happening... :)

  • I don't do any of it now, but we did when I was growing up. I loved hunting for Easter eggs and I can't freaking wait to be able to hide eggs for my kid!

  • I don't now, but we used too. I will once I have kids. I use to love adding a little oil to the colors and making tie dye eggs. I always thought it was so cool.

  • We do, well, we help Braden anyway.  Last year we did 2 dozen and just used the PAAS tablets and cups.

We only hide the plastic ones, the other ones end up as deviled eggs for lunch/dinner :)

  • We used to make them when I was a kid. I always loved dying eggs!

Last year I dyed eggs with a tie dye kit with a friend and her daughter. I forgot how much fun it was! I can't wait to continue with our kids.

  • We used to dye them when I was younger.  And the Easter Bunny would hide them in the house (not outside), and we'd have to find them.  Then that's what mom would use to make deviled eggs with dinner.  I plan to do that with my kids too I think.  (dye I mean, clearly the EB will do the hiding!)
  • do you dye eggs? yes!  I love to dye eggs!

how many?  DH and I usually dye a dozen

any particular dying secrets? Not that I can think of

do you hide them or hunt for them? Neither, I am lame and just put them in our easter baskets Easter monring.

I do have a bunch of plastic eggs that I fill with dog treats and hide them around the back yard for the girls to find.  DH thinks I am crazy for doing an Easter egg hunt with dogs. Stick out tongue

  • I haven't dyed easter eggs in years. We use to as kids and my mom still does even though she has no kids at home. We will be in PA this year so it will be fun to see all my cousins kids hunting for eggs.

  • No to all.

I do kind of want to take DD to an Easter Egg hunt this year.  Would that be sacrilegious?

I'm thinking no. I mean, the new testament isn't Bunny-centric.

  • I don't currently, but I LOVED doing it growing up, so I definitely will when M gets old enough.

I won't tell. Plus, bunnies are cute. :)

  • I want to try these silk tie dyed eggs this year.
  • I want to dye eggs this year, but I probably wont.  For the past two years I took the dogs to a HUGE doggie social Easter egg hunt in Fort Walton, but I wont be doing that this year, so I'll probably do a scaled down version for Salty in the back yard.

That is the coolest thing! I've never seen that before. I totally just bookmarked that on my computer. Maybe we will be dying some this year. ;)
