Good news for Maryland wine lovers
As of July 1, we will be able to get wine shipped to us! Hooray!!!! I am so happy I won't have to use my relatives in Virginia for wine shipping anymore.

Baby steps.
Yay!
Agreed!
I don't get this weird law - I can buy beer and wine at the Safeway on Briggs Chaney Road in Silver Spring... but that's it....
What's that all about?
A handful of stores got their license before the law changed. At least in MoCo. I think it's a county-by-county thing, though.
YAY for wine imports, though! I am going to go broke in wine club dues.
I'm a dork, so I googled it and this is what their website says:
Why can?t I purchase beer and wine in my grocery store?
Maryland State law prohibits this. Four Montgomery County grocery stores sell beer and wine today because they were licensed before the law changed.
Which means I was wrong about it being county-by-county, though. I guess it's a fairly recent law. There's a grocery store near me (in PG) that's only been selling beer and wine for the past few years.
Also, is it sad that I can identify three of the four grocery stores off the top of my head?
Yeah, seriously! But, this is good news anyway!
