Sensitive subject.. any weight loss support groups?
Although weight loss surgery has been on my mind lately, I don't want to go that route...yet.
Anyone know of weight loss support groups or medical based weight loss programs/groups to be a part of? I am going to call Ridgeview Clinic in the morning, they have a new weight loss program but from what the website says it sounds like mostly weight loss surgery.
I appreciate the recommendations. Thank you.

Re: Sensitive subject.. any weight loss support groups?
Even if you're not thinking about the surgery, try to connect with one of the centers. They can track you and support you and if after a time you do decide to go for one of the surgery options you already have a relationship with them.
DH just had the Realize Band placed in March. If you have questions about his process and the banding, just shoot me a PM.
BTW, I have to thank you because I think it was you who posted the PriorFatGirl blog. I've been following her and others that I met through her and it's been a great source of information and support for me.
Now I have to thank you
I just googled and found that blog, and I've been reading for the last half an hour.
Aim- have you tried WW? Like PP said, you can do just online, but I'd recommend the meetings, too.
Eat.Drink.BeMarried. Blog.
First let me say, to each their own. If weight loss surgery is a choice individuals want to make, it's their choice and I will respect his choice.
However, I feel when people are in this situation, I want to tell my own story. At my heaviest I was over 280 lbs and my doctor told me I would be a "perfect candidate" for bariatric surgery. But I knew it wasn't the right course for me. There was absolutely no reason I couldn't do it myself and I felt like taking the surgery route wouldn't make me feel like I'd accomplished it myself.
What saved my life was two things: 1) a complete change in my attitude regarding food after reading the books Women, Food and God and Naturally Thin and 2) the BodyBugg. If you've watched the Biggest Loser, you've seen the BodyBugg, a tool that counts your calories burned every day. You then log your calories and your deficit will help you calculate your weight loss each week.
Today, I've lost more than 80 lbs and kept it off for more than a year. I'm now pursuing losing the last 20 lbs and feeling great. And I wouldn't have done it any other way. I have two friends who had bariatric surgery and they deal with loose skin and other side effects. And for me, I don't deal with any of that. I lost it gradually enough that I didn't end up with loose skin.
So, like I said, it's your decision. But to me, until you've really exhausted all of your options, I wouldn't do surgery.
This is where I'm at. I'm really struggling emotionally about all of it. I struggle with my current weight, where I'd like to be, the obstacles in between them... etc.
It's a hell of a journey. My emotions are what get the best of me. I have been thinking about finding a psychiatrist or something to talk the feelings over with. My DH 'gets it' but he doesn't get it. My family are all at healthy weights, so I feel like they don't get it either. They don't know the battle that goes on in my head.
Thanks everyone!! I may DD this later.
