Hey all! I don't post as much as I wish I could, but I'm super excited about the newest addition to our family... Meet Lucy!
Lucy is a 14 week old, Great Dane mix (mom's a Dane, but we're not sure what dad is) whom we adopted through Secondhand Hounds this week. She came into our lives rather unexpectedly, but we already can't imagine not having her around. Lucy is the most outgoing, loving, and fearless puppy I've met in a looong time and has settled in quite well here. She's going to be a biiiig girl (estimated to potentially be 100lbs.+), and I can't wait to see how large she actually gets!
So here's my question: Any recommendations for dog parks? We live by Maplewood Mall and would love to find one nearby that I can take her to this summer!
Re: New Puppy! (and a question)

Oooh, thanks for the link! That should help a lot
I'm really glad that we went through a rescue to get her. The volunteers with SHH were awesome, and super fast with their response times. We saw her picture on Sunday night, sent in the application, had a response by morning, met her on Monday night, and she was ours by Tuesday afternoon!
Congrats! She is super cute. Holy crap 100 lbs! Good luck with that!
My pup hates dog parks so no recs there.
Super adorable!
We go to Arkwright and Battle Creek and we live right by you.
Oh my goodness, she is SOOOO cute!
Congrats on your new addition!

FWIW, my car was broken into in my garage in MOORHEAD, MN. It could happen anywhere. We have a friend who lives in the "'hood" and she's never had any problems. We go to Arkwright more than Battle Creek cause it's closer.

What a pretty dog! And awesome that you went through a rescue to get her! Congrats.
I'm not much help on dog parks, our dog is not a good dog park candidate.
I do know the area around Arkwright, though, a good family friend lived in a house right next to the park, and I wouldn't have a problem going there. Car theft can happen in a lot of places.

So adorable! I have a dog that is 120 lbs and the bigger they are the more they like to cuddle and think they are lap dogs! Keep us posted as she gets bigger, I would love to see full size pics of her!
I grew up in the Maplewood area and still have a lot of friends down there. Almost all of them go to Battle Creek and they don't really have any complaints about it. Every so often they say there is a inattentive owner but other than that they all really like it there.
she's so sweet! congrats!
no recs on dog parks. we can't take our dogs because our males isn't neutered.
enjoy and yes, please please post more photos as she grows.

I love this idea! So far, her favorite spot is on a big chair in our living room, and I think it'd be fun to do the weekly picture to see her fill up more and more of it. I'll also make sure to post more pictures here as she grows
Thanks for all of the recommendations for dog parks! Lucy's quite the social butterfly (with people and dogs), so I think the dog park would be a lot of fun for her. We'll have to make the rounds this summer to see which ones we like.
