Help me shop

It's slow at work, slow on here, so I'll take advantage of you guys :-)

I'm looking for a black, cotton nightgown for the hospital. I want it to be a tank style (so I can nurse) and don't want it to be super short or wide fitting. Loose is good but I don't want a mumu. I'd like it to be sorta cheap so if it gets gross I can toss it and not feel bad about wasting money.

  • Everyone is different in this but I myself got a pants/top set and sooo glad I did based on what happens down there (and for anyone who doesn't know when you get a section you still will bleed for about 5 weeks after) which I didn't know haha

It was that super soft material and I could have the pants above my insicion.  It just made me feel better I guess.

Andt he top was a short sleeve flowy top.

I got it at Walmart honestly for like 13 bucks...I got it online.

  • Thanks for the recs girls! I think the first two are too short for the hospital (I'm thinking getting in/out of bed, etc.) but I may  go check them out.

The main reason I was thinking night gown is if you have a Vbirth you get checked fairly often and lifting up the gown would be easier than taking pants off, I'll just be sure to invest in some grannies ;-) From what I hear everyone bleeds for weeks afterwards, section or vbirth.

  • i got a tank "dress" like you're talking about from Gap Body...i knew i'd use it after (it didn't get gross...you're not like a big bloody mess once the baby is out and all that) so i didn't mind spending the money. i also opted for loose fitting yoga-style pants...those were nice.

i did take a bunch of my maternity tanktops (built-in bra style) but they didn't fit me right once my milk came in and also they looked uber unflattering. i wished i had taken more just like tshirts...even though i was pumping...i still felt like i needed just a tshirt.

here's a tank dress similar to what i have:

  • You will for sure be in a gown the first 24ish hours then I don't know...for me I was and had to have the gown until they took the cathetor out and I could go pea 3 times within the day and then I could put on normal clothes.

They'll give you these mesh panties and then these awesome pads and they are awesome.

Definitely make sure they give you a few things of them to go home with!

  • I wore the gown. I was so freaking sick and out of it. Afterwards, I wore comfy yoga type maternity pants and t shirts. I was not bfing.
  • Damn, I haven't even thought about this stuff yet.  ::sticks fingers in ears:: Lalalalalalala

  • Thanks for the other recs! It looks like I'll need to go by Gap and Target to check things out. My only concern is that I have long legs (I'm 5'8) so what isn't too short on other people can get a little showy on me, and that's not the look I'm going for PP! Haha.
