Other than "Almost Famous" I kinda automatically avoid anything she's in. I saw the ad for "Something Borrowed" earlier this week and was really disappointed to see that she was in it.
I watched Wedding Wars on cable a few weeks ago and it was OK, but I would never have paid $8 to see that. I dont' see what her appeal is.
Re: Do you like Kate Hudson?
Yes, I love her! How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is one of my favorite movies, and Skeleton Key was creepy as anything.
I love Something Borrowed (the book) adn the author, Emily Giffin, has done a really great job with her facebook over the past year in terms of hyping up the movie (casting - done! Screenplay - done! Pics from the set! Help me pick a song for this scene! Vote on my dress for the premiere!...that kind of stuff.) It sounds weird but it's really made me interested in seeing the movie.
That said - I'm not wild about the idea of Kate Hudson as Darcy, and was disappointed when she was picked, but I'm still going to see it.
Someone's getting a little brother!
hmmmmm - yeah, I know Becky's raved about "How to Lose a Guy in 10 days" and I've seen that too - and again, I've seen it on cable, but eh, it was OK.
Maybe its an age thing. She always seems liek she's trying to hard to be wacky and likeable (sp?) in movies.
Maybe. But different actresses appeal to different people for different reasons, and that's fine too.
I don't particularly like Courtney Cox, for example, even though I love Friends - she's "cold" in my opinion, but I adore Jennifer Aniston.
of course
I feel like I'm the only person who's like "eh" with her. I know other people despise Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, etc.
I'm "eh" with Keira Knightley and Jennifer Garner.
I'm just throwing that out there. I bet you could find some sort of Kate Hudson anti-fan group or something online if you tried ;-)
I forgot about her - I cannot stand Courtney Cox! My DH keeps trying to get me to watch Cougartown but I refuse. I like Jennifer Aniston but I hate that she always does the same movie.
I'm with you on Keira Knightly - I liked her in Love Actually, but anything since - bleh. That girl needs a burger (made from USDA prime)
But, OMG - Jennifer Garner!!! She's going to be my best friend someday - and our DD's will be besties for life too!! We're going to go on family vacations together.
Do you think the Kate Hudson haters have an active message board??? I may have to defect if that's the case.
I think How To Lose a Guy... is a funny movie, but I can't think of anything else I've seen with her in it. I'm indifferent toward her.
Do you mean Bride Wars?
I like her, but I'm not her biggest fan. I do love How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Fools Gold, but they also have Matthew McConaughey in them..yumm!!!
I think she will be perfect as Darcy. I think it's a role she was born/rhino-plastied/boob job'd to play.
I think she and Jennifer Aniston are in the same category of pretty w/ a lot of money/upkeep/but try to come across as natural/bohemian actresses. Also I think they both seem to play/come across as the same character in most of their movies- w/ a few exceptions where they play rockstars' girlfriends.
We watch Cougar Town and it's alright. But I really don't like Courtney Cox. I can't get past the plastic surgery she's had on her face. It makes her mouth look weird, and I think it's dumb because she looked fine before. Also her character is not too likeable. I have the same issue with Rose McGowan who I saw on an episode of Law & Order the other day and I couldn't get past how stupid and plastic-y her mouth looked.
Keira Knightly annoys me with her pouty facial expressions. I have the same issue with Jessica Alba - I'd love to smack them both.
Kate Hudson doesn't bother me, nor do I love her. How To Lose A Guy...is a good TV movie to watch - I've seen it several times. I loved Almost Famous.
I don't like Angelina Jolie. I particularly don't like her acting.

NO! Darcy needs brown hair and Rachel needs blonde!! I'm very upset about this for some reason. it's so stupid, I know, but it really irks me. It wont' stop me from seeing the movie on opening weekend ha, but i'm irrationaly upset over it.
Kathryn - I love Jennifer Garner as a person (since I know her so well, ha) - but I typically can't stand her movies. I dont know what it is.
It's funny- I have definitely read that book at least 2x, but the hair color thing did not stand out to me at all. I just remember that Darcy was supposed to be more pretty/fancy/superficial/less intelligent than Rachel.
Me too! Love love love Kate Hudson and "How to Lose a Guy..." is probably my all-time favorite movie. SO excited to see "Something Borrowed"!!
I have always liked Kate Hudson. She isn't the best actress, but she seems like a gal I could be friends with or relate to and I love her mom!
I really don't like Anne Hathaway and she really irked me in love and other drugs..
