Give me your list of "must-haves" and "don't bothers" for our baby registry.

Re: Moms - re: baby registry
Don't bother: Diaper Genie (it stinks..literally. Easier to just take them directly outside) bottle warmer, wipes warmer, bumper pad (I eventually put one in but not until he turned 1.. No use for it before then),
See everyone is different
Our diaper genie does not stink at all and she's 5.5 months...I figured it was because she was breast fed because it smells like Vanilla honestly haha I have heard some friends say theirs stunk but we're lucky on that.
The wipes warmer probably would be nice but we didn't get it and now I wouldn't go buy it but if someone was getting it then yah I would.
Do not get a lot of bottles because every baby is different. We got two start sets of the breast flow (that are supposed to be as close to a mother as possible) she hated them. She loves Dr. Brown's but those are expensive so I wouldn't get a lot in case she doesn't like them.
Boppy worked great for a few weeks but then was a pain for me but lots of folks love it.
I have a cheapy carrier now to make sure she liked it and we're going to get the Ergo because it's best for their hips...
We have the Vibe monitor and it will beep if they don't hear anything and it also vibrates which is nice but I'm a super sensitive sleeper.
Oh since you will have a house with multiple levels I'd recommend getting a video monitored baby monitor....we're all on one level so I didn't think it was a must.
Definitely a bouncy/vibrating/music seat...she loved that.
Her swing we got the Zen that swings in two different directions and she loved it for a month and hated it after.
Play mats with lots of hanging toys are great!
Bumbo (which is for later) is great too.
Looooots of diapers (or if you're doing cloth lots of them) and lots of wipes.
The mirror for the car (not the one that you attach to your review because thats only when they're turned facing normal but this one goes in the back so you can see them...that was nice for finding paci's and just knowing what they're doing.
Lots of sheets!
Lots of changing table covers (with holes for straps if you can find them)
Pack n Play
I know people do the bath thing and ours was great with the infant insert but now she's too big and we're already needing to get her a new one so I have seen where folks just really bathe with them until they're a few months and then get a bigger tub which is what I would do over again.
Ok that's enough haha
I skimmed the pp lists, so I'll add in some of my thoughts.
We used the swing and the bouncer a lot. He'd nap in his swing a lot when he was little. I'd set him on the table strapped into his bouncer if I wanted to do something in the kitchen. We never got a Bumbo.
The Boppy was nice too, until he started sitting up. It is good for when you are starting tummy time. Plus I'd set him in that next to me on the couch and he'd just chill.
We used the Pack N Play in our room for the bassinet feature, until he hit the weight limit. Now it is in his room and we use it for the changer table feature. He's about at the weight limit for that now. We used the changer table in our room too, so we just moved all the diaper stuff.
For bath time I got a collapsible seat to lay him in. Our apartment wasn't feasible to have a big tub. Once he started sitting unassisted we just moved him to a big rubber bath mat that sticks to the bottom of the tub.
We bought Playtex VentAire bottles, and he never had a problem with them. Mommy just had to realize there were 2 different nipple sizes.
We didn't bother with a special diaper pail. Just got a regular trash can that has a lid that swings. We use grocery bags as trash bags. He's formula fed and we've never had a smell issue.
We also never used the infant car seat. We started with the convertible car seat, and love it. We weren't lugging around the heavy thing plus the baby, and it saved us the cost of having to buy 2 car seats. The one we have can be used from 5 to 55lbs. As fast as K has grown, he wouldn't have been in the infant car seat long anyways.
My Profile
Must haves for us: plain, unfolded, cloth diapers (gerber) to use as burp clothes, lots and lots of bibs, multiple sheets that match the bedding (just solid colors so it's cheaper and you can buy whatever), bouncy-type seat with vibrate function (a MUST for bennett!), toys with bright colors and mirrors (playmats are great to teach them to roll over on), a crazy mobile that is horrid and ugly but actually works bc the baby loves to stare at it and listen to the music, the big blue bathtub...i think it has an insert for infants...we didnt get it until he was older and he loved it. he felt "safe" i think in it bc it wasn't as big as the tub, lots and lots of books...he's just now LOVING storytime. he brings books to me everynight to read to him.
things we didnt use/got rid of: sheet protectors (the fabric was itchy and not nice), anglecare monitor...only bc Bennett slept in our room in the pack n play for 8 weeks and we couldnt put it in there...so by then, we were pretty much over the initial "omg is he going to stop breathing!?" phase so we just returned it, avent bottles (all of ours leaked...SO annoying. we used playtex i think..but bennett was really great about using anything), bottle warmer, and we really didnt use the boppy except to like help him sit up because i was pumping and not breast feeding.
If you haven't already, I highly recommend buying the book Baby Bargains. It gave me a lot of different ideas on what's a good buy, what's not, etc. I used it as a starting point to help me decide between brands too.
If you want to check out my registry, go to BRU and type in my name. I have a ton of random stuff on there but the big items were all picked based on the Baby Bargains recommendations.
Every baby is different. Some moms will swear by certain things that other moms never use. For instance, we never had a changing table but I know a couple of my friends that use theirs for every change.
Infant car seat, convertible car seat (later), somewhere for them to sleep, blankets, blankets, blankets, sleepers, sleepers, sleepers, some towels and wash clothes, diapers, bibs, burp cloths, bottles or boob.
wipes warmer is a waste of money in my opinion. bottle sanitizer is a waste if you have a good dishwasher.
Audrey loved her infant vibrator chair for a while, her bumbo sometimes, her swing all the time. She didn't really like pacifers but had to have her lovey blanket.
I completely do not agree with this. Safety ratings on infant seats are vastly higher than convertibles.
