I?ve bit my nails for years. I know, I know, it?s a disgusting habit but I?d find myself doing it without even realizing it, especially while driving or watching TV, then I?d be all mad when I?d notice my nails were all messed up. I bought a bottle of clear Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear a few weeks ago just to see if it worked, and it does! My nails are so much stronger because of it and longer due to the fact that I literally cannot bite them anymore; I?ve tried, it hurts my teeth lol. Even before, if I let one grow out, it?d be all flimsy, but now they are actually stiff. I guess I wasn?t paying attention when I bought the clear one because I saw online they make a whole line of these. So if you are a nail biter, go check this out, it?s saving my poor little nails.

Re: Nail Biters
This is interesting. I never would've guessed something like this would work!
Try taking pre-natal vitamins, too. I've always had strong nails (and fortunately have never been a nail biter), but with the vitamins, they are nearly indestructable!
I think Biotin is the main "ingredient" that helps with this - your hair, too. That might be a better option, because I just heard the other day (don't know if this is true, though) that pre-natals increase your chances of getting pregnant (which explains so much about how we got pregnant on our honeymoon - haha!).

This! I have always had very strong nails, but the other day when I went for a manicure, she had trouble getting through them (mind you, she was pretty incompetent).

I actually just started taking prenatals the other day for the hair and nail benefits lol. Plus all of a sudden Jason has crazy baby fever...not like we're going to try for a baby any time soon due to many reasons, but I figured might as well get a head start on things so when the time is right, we'll at least have taken 1 step in the right direction considering if we do decide we want to really try for a baby, we'd like it to be within the next couple years.
Plus I really just want my hair to grow out faster lol. I got the wife chop after the wedding but Jason prefers it longer so I'm growing it out rather than getting it cut again, but now it's in this awkward phase of not being short but not being long...blah.
Haha, right! It's amazing stuff. Usually products like this don't work, but this stuff is the shiznit. I went out and bought 2 new bottles of it on my lunch break since all I had was clear. Now I have a deep purple and a sparkly pink lol.
Oooh! You should join me in my nail polish posting then! LOL

This is exciting. I'll have to try it. I'm also a life long nail biter, and I hate it. It's a horrible compulsion. Currently I have the glue on nails on, because I had a big paper and an exam and chewed them to the point of pain. I've tried the bad tasting stuff before, but the only one I've found that's bad enough is more an oil treatment that gets on your fingers. Then anything you prepare with your hands tastes like it. Not good for a sandwich.

Awesome! The clear stuff over reg works wonders as well. But it is always fun to buy new colors!!!
All this talk about color makes me realize...the one really bad thing about having long nails is that you really can't put color on them because they look really frightening that way.
So mine are always just natural (not even clear polish). The couple of times a year I get a manicure, I always just do an American.

I must always look scary then, because when my nails are long, they are almost always painted wild colors.

Really??? Maybe it's just the shape of my nails or something. I've tried because I love colored nails and they always look terrible.
Not to mention that they chip so easily, and I just don't have it in me to paint them on a regular basis...I'm pretty lazy!
Megan & Chris
It's HIGHLY possible that people think they look scary on me, but I like them. And I never have like SUPER long nails. They don't come out like an inch from my finger or something. I also don't work in a professional environment, so that probably makes some difference too.
And if you use a really good base coat and top coat and redo the top coat every couple of days, they shouldn't chip too badly. But I'm also one of those people who enjoys painting my nails and do so every 3 days or so (or this week, every day).

Wow! You have so much more patience than I do. I hate painting them anyway, but then the waiting for them to dry...that really kills me. I'd rather be laying on the couch - ha! See what I mean? I'm lazy!
My best friend often has to tell me to cut my nails because they're getting too creepy (it's usually right about the time that I have a hard time typing because I click multiple keys at once because of them). So I guess that probably plays a factor in mine looking scary!
