Interviews??

So I believe two of us had interviews today!

 How did they go??

Re: Interviews??

  • My interview this morning went really well, I think.  Thank you for asking :)  I think I answered her questions well and she even said a couple times "That's a good answer."  I actually feel that I would be a good fit there.  The only thing I did that was bad, was not having any questions at the end of the interview to ask.  Grr. I'm kicking myself over that.

Question!!  Should I send an email Thank you Note, or handwritten?  Both?  She said I would hear back from her by early next week at the latest and they're doing 2nd interviews already next week.  Would postal mail be too slow?

DaisyKD, How did your interview go?

  • I had one today!  I felt like it went really well, there were two managers there and they both seemed really positive about the interview.  After the interview the one manager asked if I would want to tour the department at the other hospital I would work at and I said yes.  So after lunch I went out there and while I was there I decided that I should tell her I'm pregnant.

Seeing as how I'm almost 2 months along I figured it would be better that they know now rather than finding out after I was just hired.  She seemed to be ok with it but now I'm second guessing if I should have told her.  Ugh hopefully I didn't ruin my chances.  Since it's PRN it's not like they will have to pay maternity leave or anything so hopefully it's ok.   I have another interview at the 3rd hospital tomorrow so I'm hoping that it all works out.

  • kpshoney that's awesome-sounds like it went great!  And I wouldn't worry too much about not having questions, the important part is that you answered their questions well.

    Keep us updated!!!

Legally speaking, they can't list this as a reason for not hiring you (even if they had to pay maternity leave!)

  • Glad they both went well!!

And KPS- I would send both an e-mail and hand written thank you card.   We interviewed 8 people for 3 positions, and only 3 of them wrote thank yous (they happened to be the first 3 we offered the jobs to).   And I interview incoming professional students... and have gotten e-mail, handwritten and even facebook thank yous.   I always make sure to pass the info along to the admissions office... who knows, maybe that little act of taking the time to thank those who interviewed them will help them get a place in grad school!

  • DaisyKD, glad to hear that your interview went well, too!  I don't think that being pregnant should make any difference to whether or not they hire you.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Ellen, thanks for the tip!  I sent a thank you email just a couple hours ago.  She already answered me back thanking me as well - and I now have a second interview set for next Wednesday!!!! Yaayyy!

  • kps - funny, I was running around my school today asking people this same question (how to thank people for the interview).  I interviewed on Wednesday for a position at a different school still within my county.  The final verdict was that an email would be okay.

I'm not sure if I want vibes for the job or not. (crazy I know).  There are things at my current school that I do not like and have been called in for (even though I was in the right).  But I'm scared to leave my BFF, my fabulous assistant, and all of my very good friends.   If I get the position, I'm scared to accept it.  And if I declined it, I couldn't interview there again for a LONG time.  But if they offer it to someone else, then I could apply in the future.

DH says do what makes me happy but not to be scared about a leap of faith.

  • I think handwritten thank  you notes to everyone who interviewed you are a must!!  I have always learned that is the way to go.  I did that when I got my job!!!
  • I'm glad you have good interviews ladies!

KPS - send a handwritten than you note after your 2nd interview next week. It's local mail so it will only take a day or two to get there. I think a handwritten note is totally worth the little longer lag time.

    Good luck!!
